WEBVTT
00:00:00.462 --> 00:00:03.431
Well, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, hallelujah.
00:00:03.431 --> 00:00:06.530
Let's turn to Matthew, the fourth chapter.
00:00:06.530 --> 00:00:09.789
We are talking about first words.
00:00:09.789 --> 00:00:12.708
First words are important.
00:00:12.708 --> 00:00:32.908
I'm going to remind you again that first words are important, especially in the Scripture and especially as it applies to the ministry of Jesus, because what Jesus said at the beginning of His ministry was important in setting the direction of it, not only for Him.
00:00:32.908 --> 00:00:56.231
But we're going to find out today that the first words that he spoke to His disciples were the utmost importance in setting the direction not only of the time that they would have with him while he was on the earth, but the time that they would have following his departure.
00:00:57.052 --> 00:01:20.334
Amen, jesus' whole ministry with his disciples was basically Jesus's whole ministry with his disciples was basically I'm going to emphasize, with his disciples, not in general to other people on the outside, but with his disciples was a ministry to prepare them for what they would do after he left.
00:01:20.334 --> 00:01:50.022
And not only did it prepare them for what they would do individually, but it prepared them plus another 120, more or less to get the ball rolling in Jerusalem by building a church in rapid fashion, so that within a few weeks or months the church had grown from 120 to many tens of thousands.
00:01:50.022 --> 00:01:51.885
Amen.
00:01:51.885 --> 00:01:58.941
Now, this was all trained by Jesus in the three and a half years he was working with the 120.
00:01:58.941 --> 00:02:22.094
He trained them, he sent them out, he gave them practical experience and he also gave them the groundwork and the framework for building a cell church ministry in Jerusalem, and then subsequently in Antioch, and then subsequently through the ministry of Paul, silas, barnabas and others throughout all of Europe.
00:02:22.094 --> 00:02:24.466
Amen, hallelujah.
00:02:24.466 --> 00:02:45.578
Without building a church, without doing any of that kind of overhead stuff, they just went into towns, found somebody that was worthy their peace would rest with them and they started training up people and then, finally, they'd spend three months, five months, six months.
00:02:45.578 --> 00:02:55.240
They'd have somebody trained that could take over the leadership of that church and off they'd go into another city and do it again, and do it again, and do it again.
00:02:55.240 --> 00:02:58.682
And this was the program that Jesus taught them.
00:02:58.682 --> 00:03:03.828
Hallelujah, praise God.
00:03:03.828 --> 00:03:06.191
So, hallelujah, praise God.
00:03:06.191 --> 00:03:11.716
So what Jesus had when he came, he knew who he was going to call.
00:03:11.716 --> 00:03:13.116
Amen.
00:03:13.116 --> 00:03:25.072
The Father told him during his prayer time which men to pull out and those were going to be the ones that he was going to train for this ministry.
00:03:25.072 --> 00:03:28.481
Do you understand that?
00:03:28.481 --> 00:03:32.531
So the first things that he spoke to them were real important.
00:03:33.413 --> 00:03:36.282
In Matthew, the fourth chapter, in verse 19,.
00:03:36.282 --> 00:03:46.295
You know the story Jesus is walking along the Sea of Galilee and he comes upon Peter and Andrew.
00:03:46.295 --> 00:03:54.048
Now he had already had an encounter we're going to talk about that later in the book of John.
00:03:54.048 --> 00:03:57.390
He had an encounter with Andrew and subsequently with Peter.
00:03:57.390 --> 00:04:16.422
But now he's coming to where they're working Before he had encountered Andrew, where Andrew was following after John the Baptist and most of the disciples a lot of them anyway had been spending some time with John the Baptist and helping him.
00:04:16.422 --> 00:04:33.286
But now, after John had baptized Jesus and basically transferred the ministry over to him and saying I must decrease, he must increase, jesus picked up some of his disciples.
00:04:33.286 --> 00:04:48.170
So he finds Peter and Andrew with their father Jonah and they're mending nets and fishing and doing all that sort of thing.
00:04:48.170 --> 00:04:57.612
In verse 19, jesus said to them follow me and I will make you fishers of men.
00:04:57.612 --> 00:05:03.269
Verse 20 says they immediately left their nets and followed him.
00:05:03.290 --> 00:05:05.113
We're going to talk about two words today.
00:05:05.113 --> 00:05:15.372
We're going to talk about the two most important first words that Jesus spoke to his disciples were the words follow me.
00:05:15.372 --> 00:05:25.812
This pattern is repeated Peter, andrew, james, john, philip, matthew.
00:05:25.812 --> 00:05:41.262
It's recorded in the Bible that this is what Jesus said when he looked at them, placed the call of God upon their lives and said follow me Now.
00:05:41.262 --> 00:05:56.531
In order to understand the immensity of this and how this set into motion so many things, we have to look at it from the disciples' point of view.
00:05:56.531 --> 00:05:59.889
You can look at it from Jesus' point of view.
00:05:59.889 --> 00:06:01.365
You can look at it from your point of view.
00:06:01.365 --> 00:06:03.607
You can look at it as an illustrative example of what he says to you.
00:06:03.607 --> 00:06:04.649
You can look at it from your point of view.
00:06:04.649 --> 00:06:07.382
You can look at it as an illustrative example of what he says to you.
00:06:07.382 --> 00:06:26.312
You know, you can look at it from a lot of different ways, but you're going to miss the importance of it if you don't look at it from the disciples' point of view, because what happened immediately after he said those words tells you how important those words were.
00:06:26.312 --> 00:06:28.435
Amen.
00:06:30.120 --> 00:06:37.259
Peter and Andrew had known, up until the time that they started hanging out with John the Baptist.
00:06:37.259 --> 00:07:03.949
The only things they had ever known in their life was hanging out with their father and building up the fishing business, because I don't know who's who's father, what the father's name was, who was Peter's grandfather, the father of Jonah?
00:07:03.949 --> 00:07:08.165
But I do know this he was a fisherman.
00:07:08.165 --> 00:07:16.043
I don't know the name of Peter's great-grandfather, but I do know this he was a fisherman.
00:07:16.043 --> 00:07:17.730
Amen.
00:07:17.730 --> 00:07:24.151
I don't know what his great-great-grandfather's name was, but it's more than likely.
00:07:24.151 --> 00:07:26.663
He lived in the same village and he was a fisherman.
00:07:29.408 --> 00:07:31.312
There was no way that he was a carpenter.
00:07:31.312 --> 00:07:40.341
That was Jesus's line of work and it was Joseph's line of work and it was Joseph's father's line of work.
00:07:40.341 --> 00:07:42.466
And it went on and on and on.
00:07:42.466 --> 00:07:43.427
Amen.
00:07:43.427 --> 00:07:48.440
Because in the Jewish culture, amen.
00:07:48.440 --> 00:07:52.850
The work was divided along family lines.
00:07:52.850 --> 00:07:57.064
If your father was a carpenter, you were going to be a carpenter.
00:07:57.064 --> 00:07:58.466
Amen.
00:07:58.466 --> 00:08:03.483
If your family had a carpentry business, you were going to work in that business.
00:08:03.483 --> 00:08:07.752
That's just how it was.
00:08:11.961 --> 00:08:48.807
It was not lawful for them to grow up as a fisherman and become a painter, because that was an act of theft they would have considered if I'm a fisherman and I've been trained to be a fisherman and my father's a fisherman and I need to help him build the business for the family, if I decide I want to be a painter, not only am I stealing resources from my father, but I'm stealing opportunity from some other guy who's already a painter and he has sons and he has to train them.
00:08:48.807 --> 00:08:51.513
It's the way their economy works.
00:08:51.513 --> 00:08:54.061
Amen.
00:08:54.061 --> 00:08:59.032
You say well, that's kind of limiting in your self-expression.
00:08:59.032 --> 00:09:00.903
I don't think they cared a whole lot about that.
00:09:00.903 --> 00:09:09.467
I think what they cared about was that there were enough painters, there was enough carpenters, there were enough fishermen.
00:09:09.467 --> 00:09:12.133
What if everybody went fishing?
00:09:12.133 --> 00:09:14.705
No tables would get made.
00:09:14.705 --> 00:09:17.631
What if everybody made tables?
00:09:17.631 --> 00:09:22.466
Well, there'd be plenty of chairs and tables, but nobody'd have any fish to eat.
00:09:22.466 --> 00:09:29.004
It was the way that they balanced out the economy, amen.
00:09:29.225 --> 00:09:35.922
So I'm saying all that to say this that Andrew and Peter lived their whole lives as fishermen.
00:09:35.922 --> 00:09:40.405
They never thought about doing anything else.
00:09:40.405 --> 00:09:48.534
Those thoughts are not possible until something happened.
00:09:48.534 --> 00:09:58.421
And the something that happened was that John the Baptist showed up and all of a sudden, somebody said we need to go hear this guy.
00:09:58.421 --> 00:10:02.609
All of Jerusalem is going out, all of the countryside is going out.
00:10:02.609 --> 00:10:08.066
You know, we need to take a couple days off of fishing and go hear him.
00:10:08.066 --> 00:10:10.171
Well, that's all it took.
00:10:10.191 --> 00:10:14.841
Of course, the call of God was already on their life.
00:10:14.841 --> 00:10:18.326
They were already born for such a time as this.
00:10:18.326 --> 00:10:26.076
They were born to be Jesus' disciples, but they didn't know it yet, they hadn't been quickened.
00:10:26.076 --> 00:10:27.322
You're not hearing me?
00:10:27.322 --> 00:10:28.509
See?
00:10:28.509 --> 00:10:30.538
This all ties into what we've been talking about.
00:10:30.538 --> 00:10:41.345
They were already identified as men who were going to be the men that Jesus built his earthly kingdom around.
00:10:41.345 --> 00:10:43.190
They were going to take the kingdom.
00:10:43.190 --> 00:10:44.509
They were going to go to the far nations.
00:10:44.509 --> 00:10:44.668
They were gonna.
00:10:44.668 --> 00:10:45.332
They were going to go to the far nations.
00:10:45.332 --> 00:10:53.340
Thomas was going to go to India, peter was to be in Judah, paul was going to go off to Europe.
00:10:53.340 --> 00:10:54.966
They went everywhere.
00:10:54.966 --> 00:10:58.327
See, it's even in the stories.
00:10:58.327 --> 00:10:59.907
Andrew went to Scotland.
00:10:59.907 --> 00:11:18.480
Are you hearing me Praise God?
00:11:18.480 --> 00:11:19.321
Are you hearing me praise God?
00:11:19.341 --> 00:11:23.267
Jesus knew these people in the spirit and knew they were coming, being drawn to him, but they had not yet been quickened.
00:11:23.267 --> 00:11:29.274
They had been stirred, but they hadn't been quickened.
00:11:29.274 --> 00:11:39.969
As good as John the Baptist was amen, he had not yet received the Spirit that would not depart.
00:11:39.969 --> 00:11:50.192
Jesus received that Spirit and made a completely different ministry.
00:11:50.192 --> 00:11:53.503
We're going to get to that in just a minute now.
00:11:54.203 --> 00:12:08.043
The disciples Peter, andrew, james, john had followed after John the Baptist for a season and for a time, but they had not left the fishing business yet, they had not left their father's business.
00:12:08.043 --> 00:12:21.806
They had not left their business but, however, they were about to get quickened by the Word of God.
00:12:21.806 --> 00:12:39.072
See, john spoke a prophetic word to the nation, but Jesus would come and he would start to speak a prophetic word to them individually.
00:12:39.072 --> 00:12:51.028
It's one thing to hear John the Baptist say I am the one who has been sent to prepare the way of the Lord.
00:12:51.028 --> 00:12:59.456
I am the one to make the crooked places straight, the rough places smooth and all of those, the high places low and the low places high.
00:12:59.456 --> 00:13:07.630
It's one thing to sit there and quote the book of Isaiah and say these things are coming to pass.
00:13:07.630 --> 00:13:16.607
It's a whole other thing to look Peter and Andrew in the eye and say follow me.
00:13:24.302 --> 00:13:44.033
When Jesus spoke those words and gave them a command to carry out and that command was to follow him they had never, ever thought about leaving their business.
00:13:44.033 --> 00:13:53.509
And yet it says in verse 20, immediately they left their nets and followed Him.
00:13:53.509 --> 00:13:56.905
I mean, they're sitting there doing this with their nets.
00:13:56.905 --> 00:14:04.928
You know fixing nets, you know Tedious work, but that's what fishermen do, and they're sitting there.
00:14:04.928 --> 00:14:06.013
You know talking about things that guys talk about.
00:14:06.013 --> 00:14:08.966
And they're sitting there talking about things that guys talk about men and nets.
00:14:08.966 --> 00:14:26.567
Jesus walks up, just walks up and looks at them, doesn't even give Jonah the time of day, doesn't even say Jonah, I need to borrow your sons for about four years.
00:14:26.567 --> 00:14:31.229
I'll send them back, maybe.
00:14:31.229 --> 00:14:38.528
He doesn't even say hello, jonah Nice name, jonah, by the way.
00:14:38.528 --> 00:14:39.121
You know.
00:14:39.121 --> 00:14:47.269
He doesn't say any of that, it's just like oh, jonah's not even there, okay.
00:14:47.269 --> 00:14:54.865
And he looks right at Peter and Andrew and he quickens them with the word Follow me.
00:14:54.865 --> 00:15:08.811
That word penetrated their spirits at such a depth that they immediately stopped what they were doing.
00:15:08.811 --> 00:15:11.827
They just dropped their nets.
00:15:11.827 --> 00:15:14.508
They were like, look, they were like this.
00:15:14.508 --> 00:15:28.730
They were like Didn't say goodbye, didn't go in and kiss mom, didn't pat the kids on the head, didn't do any of that.
00:15:28.730 --> 00:15:36.110
They just dropped everything that they were doing and started to follow.
00:15:36.110 --> 00:15:50.346
When Jesus quickened them and gave them this command, as soon as they dropped everything and began to follow, it would cost them everything.
00:15:50.346 --> 00:16:00.647
I don't know that they knew that, amen.
00:16:00.647 --> 00:16:07.235
I don't know that they knew that, but they would soon find out.
00:16:10.302 --> 00:16:18.298
Let's turn to Mark, first chapter, verse 19.
00:16:18.298 --> 00:16:31.927
Same story, only Mark adds a little bit of additional detail, and then he goes on to tell that Jesus walked down the beach a little bit and found James and John and their father, zebedee.
00:16:31.927 --> 00:16:42.366
Now, there's every indication that the two families worked together, which probably meant that they were related, maybe cousins.
00:16:42.366 --> 00:16:49.155
Maybe Jonah and Zebedee were brothers, or maybe they were cousins, who knows?
00:16:49.155 --> 00:16:54.870
But obviously they were working close together.
00:16:54.870 --> 00:17:00.568
Zebedee was there, jonah was there, peter and Andrew were there, james and John were there.
00:17:00.568 --> 00:17:07.153
You find out later that James and John and Peter and Andrew were partners.
00:17:07.153 --> 00:17:09.805
So if they were partners, their father was partners.
00:17:09.805 --> 00:17:13.232
Chances are they were cousins.
00:17:13.232 --> 00:17:16.242
Anyway, it doesn't matter.
00:17:17.345 --> 00:17:27.212
When he, jesus, had gone a little farther from there, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and Johnny's brother, who were also in the boat mending their nets.
00:17:27.212 --> 00:17:33.932
So they were busy doing the business Zebedee's business, their business.
00:17:33.932 --> 00:17:43.480
It is indicated several places in the Bible that this business was quite prosperous.
00:17:43.480 --> 00:17:59.950
It was so prosperous that when John went to the temple area following Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed and stopped at the door, they weren't just letting anybody get into Caiaphas and Annas' house, amen.
00:17:59.950 --> 00:18:05.731
But when he stopped at the door, the person that was guarding the door recognized him because he was a businessman.
00:18:05.731 --> 00:18:09.911
Not because he was a disciple, but because he was a businessman.
00:18:09.911 --> 00:18:13.708
Amen, praise God.
00:18:13.708 --> 00:18:19.184
So he called them.
00:18:19.184 --> 00:18:23.189
Called them with the same words follow me.
00:18:23.189 --> 00:18:31.461
Called them with the same words follow me.
00:18:31.481 --> 00:18:38.480
Now, this time, not only did they leave their nets, but they left Zebedee and all the servants in the boat with all the work to do.
00:18:38.480 --> 00:18:42.688
You got to hear that.
00:18:42.688 --> 00:18:47.015
Yeah, this is not the story you know of.
00:18:47.015 --> 00:18:56.047
Remember the story in I think it's in the Gospel of Luke, where he says follow me.
00:18:56.047 --> 00:19:00.288
And then one guy says well, you know, I've got to go say goodbye to my father.
00:19:00.288 --> 00:19:04.865
I've got some work to do, let me finish that work.
00:19:04.865 --> 00:19:07.622
I've got somebody to bury, let me bury that.
00:19:07.622 --> 00:19:10.387
And Jesus gives them a response every time.
00:19:10.387 --> 00:19:18.446
You know, let the dead bury their dead, but you follow me, amen.
00:19:19.788 --> 00:19:29.208
Jesus again didn't say boo to Zebedee, Said you know, I'm sorry, but I'm going to disrupt your business here for a while.
00:19:29.208 --> 00:19:39.633
What he wasn't really telling him, you know, because they would accuse him of stealing their resources, I mean, he would.
00:19:39.633 --> 00:19:42.324
So I've heard it taught that.
00:19:42.324 --> 00:19:46.950
That's why he had to tell him I'm going to make you fishers of men because I couldn't mess with your business.
00:19:46.950 --> 00:20:12.492
But I don't know about all that, but I do know this that he didn't even talk to Zebedee and he didn't talk to Jonah, didn't even consider their plight, because Jesus was not sent to make their business prosperous, he was sent to build the kingdom of God, amen.
00:20:13.180 --> 00:20:22.471
Now, they had a role in that, in that it was their role to provide a home and raise up Peter, james, john and Andrew.
00:20:22.471 --> 00:20:28.672
But when it came time to answer the call, all of that was done.
00:20:28.672 --> 00:20:30.261
Are you hearing me?
00:20:30.261 --> 00:20:45.134
I mean, when it's time to let go of your children, it's time to let go of the children, and if Jesus comes and says follow me, amen, that trumps whatever is going on in the family.
00:20:45.134 --> 00:20:50.670
So the same thing happened with Peter and Andrew.
00:20:50.670 --> 00:20:54.026
It happened with James and John, except they left Zebedee in the boat.
00:20:54.026 --> 00:20:55.390
I love it.
00:20:55.390 --> 00:21:03.869
They just kind of gave him a little wave and they took off and started following him.
00:21:09.539 --> 00:21:10.040
Not only did they listen.
00:21:10.040 --> 00:21:11.343
Here's what, here's what's strange about this.
00:21:11.343 --> 00:21:19.904
When Jesus says follow me, I mean it's implicit that you're going to follow him and you're going to go where he goes.
00:21:19.904 --> 00:21:26.115
I mean that obviously that's what following means, except they don't know where he's going.
00:21:26.115 --> 00:21:32.949
They think, okay, this is just going to be.
00:21:32.949 --> 00:21:35.213
You know, john the Baptist part two.
00:21:35.213 --> 00:21:41.833
You know we're going to go, we're going to follow him and he's going to do some teaching.
00:21:41.833 --> 00:21:44.106
We're going to receive an offering.
00:21:44.106 --> 00:21:46.498
We're going to do some teaching, we're going to receive an offering, we're going to do some baptisms.
00:21:46.498 --> 00:21:57.819
You know he's going to do, you know this and that, and then we'll go to another village and we'll have another crowd and we'll do some more teaching and we'll have some more baptisms, you know, and we'll help him, do all those kinds of things.
00:21:57.819 --> 00:22:03.185
And then we get a break and we come back and we do some fishing and then we go back and do.
00:22:03.185 --> 00:22:06.410
You know, it's just going to be John the Baptist part two, right?
00:22:07.190 --> 00:22:11.796
Except that John the Baptist did not have a ministry of miracles.
00:22:11.796 --> 00:22:31.625
John the Baptist had a ministry of preparation.
00:22:31.625 --> 00:22:32.728
His specific role was to prepare Israel for Jesus.
00:22:32.728 --> 00:22:34.191
His role was to prepare Israel for the ministry of miracles.
00:22:34.191 --> 00:22:34.992
But he was not a miracle ministry.
00:22:34.992 --> 00:22:35.835
They had not seen this yet.
00:22:35.835 --> 00:22:36.215
Are you hearing me?
00:22:36.215 --> 00:22:38.682
They hadn't seen what was about to happen.
00:22:38.682 --> 00:22:41.391
They had no clue that this was about to happen.
00:22:41.391 --> 00:22:48.432
Nobody knew this was about to happen, that this was about to happen.
00:22:48.432 --> 00:22:49.936
Nobody knew this was about to happen.
00:22:49.936 --> 00:23:02.089
You have to understand that when Jesus came out from the wilderness and started ministering in Israel, the Bible says repeatedly no one has ever done these things before.
00:23:02.089 --> 00:23:05.255
No one has ever done these mighty works.
00:23:05.255 --> 00:23:14.469
Everybody was amazed, because not only of the way he taught, but of what he did Praise God.
00:23:14.469 --> 00:23:17.714
So they didn't know where he was going.
00:23:17.714 --> 00:23:38.463
They didn't know that it was going to be a ministry of miracles and they didn't know that every step they took as they followed Jesus was a step into the unknown and a step into these previously unrevealed manifestations of God's power.
00:23:38.463 --> 00:23:47.140
They were created to be the witnesses of what Jesus did.
00:23:47.140 --> 00:23:50.032
Listen to me very carefully.
00:23:50.032 --> 00:23:54.494
These men were not hand-chosen.
00:23:54.494 --> 00:23:57.431
These men were created.
00:23:57.431 --> 00:24:09.859
Their spirits were created by God to be the witnesses by which the ministry of Jesus would be reported to the world.
00:24:09.859 --> 00:24:16.631
You have a man named Matthew.
00:24:16.651 --> 00:24:21.008
The first book in the New Testament is the Gospel according to Matthew.
00:24:21.008 --> 00:24:31.654
The first words that were spoken to Matthew when he was sitting at a tax collector's desk stealing the people of Israel blind.
00:24:31.654 --> 00:24:44.611
The first words that Jesus spoke to him were not you thief, you scoundrel, how dare you rob the people of God?
00:24:44.611 --> 00:24:46.335
He didn't say that.
00:24:46.335 --> 00:24:51.490
The first words that he said to Matthew were follow me.
00:24:51.490 --> 00:25:08.034
Matthew got up and left his money on the table, got up and just flat out walked away from one of the most lucrative gigs in all of Israel, just walked out and just started to follow him.
00:25:08.034 --> 00:25:19.920
But it was given to Matthew to write the opening verse of the new covenant.
00:25:19.920 --> 00:25:27.259
This is the genealogy of Jesus the Christ, the Son of Abraham, the Son of David, oh my God.
00:25:27.259 --> 00:25:35.204
And there's 20 years worth of preaching right there.
00:25:35.924 --> 00:25:41.936
And it was given to Matthew to write the Gospel that would be carried to so many Jewish believers.
00:25:41.936 --> 00:26:05.515
With two words, with two words, with two words, jesus quickened that destiny and literally just jerked him right off of that tax collector table and put him in a place where he could witness everything that Jesus was going to do.
00:26:05.515 --> 00:26:23.832
Hallelujah, praise God, mark was written by the disciple Mark, but it was really the gospel according to Peter that Peter gave to Mark.
00:26:23.832 --> 00:26:29.172
Amen, this gospel according to Peter.
00:26:29.172 --> 00:26:31.445
Amen Peter.
00:26:31.445 --> 00:26:40.189
Well, all his stubbornness and all his thick-headedness and everything else that we can say about Peter was created by God.
00:26:40.269 --> 00:26:54.153
Before time began to be the one that would say this is the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, there was a man named John.
00:26:54.153 --> 00:27:00.105
Glory to God, and he's the one that got to define that.
00:27:00.105 --> 00:27:07.295
The gospel begins with the ministry of John the Baptist and he carried it on before All the rest.
00:27:07.295 --> 00:27:19.896
It was given to Peter to say this these signs shall follow them that believe Amen, they shall heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out devils, heal lepers.
00:27:19.896 --> 00:27:24.732
Praise God, praise God.
00:27:28.108 --> 00:27:30.894
Luke's gospel was essentially Paul's gospel.
00:27:30.894 --> 00:27:32.278
Amen.
00:27:32.278 --> 00:27:58.278
And Paul, as he said, was one that was born out of time, but he was called to be a witness I said called to be a witness of the great things that God had done, sent his man, luke, to into Judea, into Bethlehem, into Jerusalem, where he interviewed countless hundreds of people and accumulated the information that would then become the gospel of Luke.
00:27:58.278 --> 00:28:03.796
And people knew it was, it was a tribute, it was really Paul, was really behind it.
00:28:03.796 --> 00:28:05.829
Are you hearing me?
00:28:06.164 --> 00:28:12.654
And we know about John, the same words follow me, follow me, follow me, follow me, follow me.
00:28:12.654 --> 00:28:39.118
And he quickened, one after another after another, into a walk that they would never, ever, ever have found by themselves and they would never have expected, totally unknown, totally unmanifested, before it had never been revealed.
00:28:39.118 --> 00:28:44.471
And yet that's what, when he says follow me, that's what he's says follow me.
00:28:44.471 --> 00:28:47.866
That's what he's what he's driving at, that's what he wants you to do.
00:28:47.866 --> 00:28:51.094
He's not going to lead, he's not going to take you to some place.
00:28:51.094 --> 00:28:53.086
Listen, he didn't take.
00:28:53.086 --> 00:28:57.278
He did take them, but this wasn't the main thing, you think.
00:28:57.278 --> 00:29:12.612
Well, all those nights they spent around the campfire and jesus telling them all these wonderful things, and it's true, and they were witnesses of that and they recorded many of those things.
00:29:12.612 --> 00:29:24.516
But all of those stories that Jesus told, not a one of them could take the place of sitting there and watching that fish and that bread just multiply right before their eyes.
00:29:24.516 --> 00:29:33.074
And at the end of the day, when everybody had been fed, there were still 12 baskets left and Jesus said y'all just take one of them apiece.
00:29:33.074 --> 00:29:36.049
Glory to God.
