00:00:00.462 --> 00:00:03.431
Well, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, hallelujah.

00:00:03.431 --> 00:00:06.530
Let's turn to Matthew, the fourth chapter.

00:00:06.530 --> 00:00:09.789
We are talking about first words.

00:00:09.789 --> 00:00:12.708
First words are important.

00:00:12.708 --> 00:00:32.908
I'm going to remind you again that first words are important, especially in the Scripture and especially as it applies to the ministry of Jesus, because what Jesus said at the beginning of His ministry was important in setting the direction of it, not only for Him.

00:00:32.908 --> 00:00:56.231
But we're going to find out today that the first words that he spoke to His disciples were the utmost importance in setting the direction not only of the time that they would have with him while he was on the earth, but the time that they would have following his departure.

00:00:57.052 --> 00:01:20.334
Amen, jesus' whole ministry with his disciples was basically Jesus's whole ministry with his disciples was basically I'm going to emphasize, with his disciples, not in general to other people on the outside, but with his disciples was a ministry to prepare them for what they would do after he left.

00:01:20.334 --> 00:01:50.022
And not only did it prepare them for what they would do individually, but it prepared them plus another 120, more or less to get the ball rolling in Jerusalem by building a church in rapid fashion, so that within a few weeks or months the church had grown from 120 to many tens of thousands.

00:01:50.022 --> 00:01:51.885
Amen.

00:01:51.885 --> 00:01:58.941
Now, this was all trained by Jesus in the three and a half years he was working with the 120.

00:01:58.941 --> 00:02:22.094
He trained them, he sent them out, he gave them practical experience and he also gave them the groundwork and the framework for building a cell church ministry in Jerusalem, and then subsequently in Antioch, and then subsequently through the ministry of Paul, silas, barnabas and others throughout all of Europe.

00:02:22.094 --> 00:02:24.466
Amen, hallelujah.

00:02:24.466 --> 00:02:45.578
Without building a church, without doing any of that kind of overhead stuff, they just went into towns, found somebody that was worthy their peace would rest with them and they started training up people and then, finally, they'd spend three months, five months, six months.

00:02:45.578 --> 00:02:55.240
They'd have somebody trained that could take over the leadership of that church and off they'd go into another city and do it again, and do it again, and do it again.

00:02:55.240 --> 00:02:58.682
And this was the program that Jesus taught them.

00:02:58.682 --> 00:03:03.828
Hallelujah, praise God.

00:03:03.828 --> 00:03:06.191
So, hallelujah, praise God.

00:03:06.191 --> 00:03:11.716
So what Jesus had when he came, he knew who he was going to call.

00:03:11.716 --> 00:03:13.116
Amen.

00:03:13.116 --> 00:03:25.072
The Father told him during his prayer time which men to pull out and those were going to be the ones that he was going to train for this ministry.

00:03:25.072 --> 00:03:28.481
Do you understand that?

00:03:28.481 --> 00:03:32.531
So the first things that he spoke to them were real important.

00:03:33.413 --> 00:03:36.282
In Matthew, the fourth chapter, in verse 19,.

00:03:36.282 --> 00:03:46.295
You know the story Jesus is walking along the Sea of Galilee and he comes upon Peter and Andrew.

00:03:46.295 --> 00:03:54.048
Now he had already had an encounter we're going to talk about that later in the book of John.

00:03:54.048 --> 00:03:57.390
He had an encounter with Andrew and subsequently with Peter.

00:03:57.390 --> 00:04:16.422
But now he's coming to where they're working Before he had encountered Andrew, where Andrew was following after John the Baptist and most of the disciples a lot of them anyway had been spending some time with John the Baptist and helping him.

00:04:16.422 --> 00:04:33.286
But now, after John had baptized Jesus and basically transferred the ministry over to him and saying I must decrease, he must increase, jesus picked up some of his disciples.

00:04:33.286 --> 00:04:48.170
So he finds Peter and Andrew with their father Jonah and they're mending nets and fishing and doing all that sort of thing.

00:04:48.170 --> 00:04:57.612
In verse 19, jesus said to them follow me and I will make you fishers of men.

00:04:57.612 --> 00:05:03.269
Verse 20 says they immediately left their nets and followed him.

00:05:03.290 --> 00:05:05.113
We're going to talk about two words today.

00:05:05.113 --> 00:05:15.372
We're going to talk about the two most important first words that Jesus spoke to his disciples were the words follow me.

00:05:15.372 --> 00:05:25.812
This pattern is repeated Peter, andrew, james, john, philip, matthew.

00:05:25.812 --> 00:05:41.262
It's recorded in the Bible that this is what Jesus said when he looked at them, placed the call of God upon their lives and said follow me Now.

00:05:41.262 --> 00:05:56.531
In order to understand the immensity of this and how this set into motion so many things, we have to look at it from the disciples' point of view.

00:05:56.531 --> 00:05:59.889
You can look at it from Jesus' point of view.

00:05:59.889 --> 00:06:01.365
You can look at it from your point of view.

00:06:01.365 --> 00:06:03.607
You can look at it as an illustrative example of what he says to you.

00:06:03.607 --> 00:06:04.649
You can look at it from your point of view.

00:06:04.649 --> 00:06:07.382
You can look at it as an illustrative example of what he says to you.

00:06:07.382 --> 00:06:26.312
You know, you can look at it from a lot of different ways, but you're going to miss the importance of it if you don't look at it from the disciples' point of view, because what happened immediately after he said those words tells you how important those words were.

00:06:26.312 --> 00:06:28.435
Amen.

00:06:30.120 --> 00:06:37.259
Peter and Andrew had known, up until the time that they started hanging out with John the Baptist.

00:06:37.259 --> 00:07:03.949
The only things they had ever known in their life was hanging out with their father and building up the fishing business, because I don't know who's who's father, what the father's name was, who was Peter's grandfather, the father of Jonah?

00:07:03.949 --> 00:07:08.165
But I do know this he was a fisherman.

00:07:08.165 --> 00:07:16.043
I don't know the name of Peter's great-grandfather, but I do know this he was a fisherman.

00:07:16.043 --> 00:07:17.730
Amen.

00:07:17.730 --> 00:07:24.151
I don't know what his great-great-grandfather's name was, but it's more than likely.

00:07:24.151 --> 00:07:26.663
He lived in the same village and he was a fisherman.

00:07:29.408 --> 00:07:31.312
There was no way that he was a carpenter.

00:07:31.312 --> 00:07:40.341
That was Jesus's line of work and it was Joseph's line of work and it was Joseph's father's line of work.

00:07:40.341 --> 00:07:42.466
And it went on and on and on.

00:07:42.466 --> 00:07:43.427
Amen.

00:07:43.427 --> 00:07:48.440
Because in the Jewish culture, amen.

00:07:48.440 --> 00:07:52.850
The work was divided along family lines.

00:07:52.850 --> 00:07:57.064
If your father was a carpenter, you were going to be a carpenter.

00:07:57.064 --> 00:07:58.466
Amen.

00:07:58.466 --> 00:08:03.483
If your family had a carpentry business, you were going to work in that business.

00:08:03.483 --> 00:08:07.752
That's just how it was.

00:08:11.961 --> 00:08:48.807
It was not lawful for them to grow up as a fisherman and become a painter, because that was an act of theft they would have considered if I'm a fisherman and I've been trained to be a fisherman and my father's a fisherman and I need to help him build the business for the family, if I decide I want to be a painter, not only am I stealing resources from my father, but I'm stealing opportunity from some other guy who's already a painter and he has sons and he has to train them.

00:08:48.807 --> 00:08:51.513
It's the way their economy works.

00:08:51.513 --> 00:08:54.061
Amen.

00:08:54.061 --> 00:08:59.032
You say well, that's kind of limiting in your self-expression.

00:08:59.032 --> 00:09:00.903
I don't think they cared a whole lot about that.

00:09:00.903 --> 00:09:09.467
I think what they cared about was that there were enough painters, there was enough carpenters, there were enough fishermen.

00:09:09.467 --> 00:09:12.133
What if everybody went fishing?

00:09:12.133 --> 00:09:14.705
No tables would get made.

00:09:14.705 --> 00:09:17.631
What if everybody made tables?

00:09:17.631 --> 00:09:22.466
Well, there'd be plenty of chairs and tables, but nobody'd have any fish to eat.

00:09:22.466 --> 00:09:29.004
It was the way that they balanced out the economy, amen.

00:09:29.225 --> 00:09:35.922
So I'm saying all that to say this that Andrew and Peter lived their whole lives as fishermen.

00:09:35.922 --> 00:09:40.405
They never thought about doing anything else.

00:09:40.405 --> 00:09:48.534
Those thoughts are not possible until something happened.

00:09:48.534 --> 00:09:58.421
And the something that happened was that John the Baptist showed up and all of a sudden, somebody said we need to go hear this guy.

00:09:58.421 --> 00:10:02.609
All of Jerusalem is going out, all of the countryside is going out.

00:10:02.609 --> 00:10:08.066
You know, we need to take a couple days off of fishing and go hear him.

00:10:08.066 --> 00:10:10.171
Well, that's all it took.

00:10:10.191 --> 00:10:14.841
Of course, the call of God was already on their life.

00:10:14.841 --> 00:10:18.326
They were already born for such a time as this.

00:10:18.326 --> 00:10:26.076
They were born to be Jesus' disciples, but they didn't know it yet, they hadn't been quickened.

00:10:26.076 --> 00:10:27.322
You're not hearing me?

00:10:27.322 --> 00:10:28.509
See?

00:10:28.509 --> 00:10:30.538
This all ties into what we've been talking about.

00:10:30.538 --> 00:10:41.345
They were already identified as men who were going to be the men that Jesus built his earthly kingdom around.

00:10:41.345 --> 00:10:43.190
They were going to take the kingdom.

00:10:43.190 --> 00:10:44.509
They were going to go to the far nations.

00:10:44.509 --> 00:10:44.668
They were gonna.

00:10:44.668 --> 00:10:45.332
They were going to go to the far nations.

00:10:45.332 --> 00:10:53.340
Thomas was going to go to India, peter was to be in Judah, paul was going to go off to Europe.

00:10:53.340 --> 00:10:54.966
They went everywhere.

00:10:54.966 --> 00:10:58.327
See, it's even in the stories.

00:10:58.327 --> 00:10:59.907
Andrew went to Scotland.

00:10:59.907 --> 00:11:18.480
Are you hearing me Praise God?

00:11:18.480 --> 00:11:19.321
Are you hearing me praise God?

00:11:19.341 --> 00:11:23.267
Jesus knew these people in the spirit and knew they were coming, being drawn to him, but they had not yet been quickened.

00:11:23.267 --> 00:11:29.274
They had been stirred, but they hadn't been quickened.

00:11:29.274 --> 00:11:39.969
As good as John the Baptist was amen, he had not yet received the Spirit that would not depart.

00:11:39.969 --> 00:11:50.192
Jesus received that Spirit and made a completely different ministry.

00:11:50.192 --> 00:11:53.503
We're going to get to that in just a minute now.

00:11:54.203 --> 00:12:08.043
The disciples Peter, andrew, james, john had followed after John the Baptist for a season and for a time, but they had not left the fishing business yet, they had not left their father's business.

00:12:08.043 --> 00:12:21.806
They had not left their business but, however, they were about to get quickened by the Word of God.

00:12:21.806 --> 00:12:39.072
See, john spoke a prophetic word to the nation, but Jesus would come and he would start to speak a prophetic word to them individually.

00:12:39.072 --> 00:12:51.028
It's one thing to hear John the Baptist say I am the one who has been sent to prepare the way of the Lord.

00:12:51.028 --> 00:12:59.456
I am the one to make the crooked places straight, the rough places smooth and all of those, the high places low and the low places high.

00:12:59.456 --> 00:13:07.630
It's one thing to sit there and quote the book of Isaiah and say these things are coming to pass.

00:13:07.630 --> 00:13:16.607
It's a whole other thing to look Peter and Andrew in the eye and say follow me.

00:13:24.302 --> 00:13:44.033
When Jesus spoke those words and gave them a command to carry out and that command was to follow him they had never, ever thought about leaving their business.

00:13:44.033 --> 00:13:53.509
And yet it says in verse 20, immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

00:13:53.509 --> 00:13:56.905
I mean, they're sitting there doing this with their nets.

00:13:56.905 --> 00:14:04.928
You know fixing nets, you know Tedious work, but that's what fishermen do, and they're sitting there.

00:14:04.928 --> 00:14:06.013
You know talking about things that guys talk about.

00:14:06.013 --> 00:14:08.966
And they're sitting there talking about things that guys talk about men and nets.

00:14:08.966 --> 00:14:26.567
Jesus walks up, just walks up and looks at them, doesn't even give Jonah the time of day, doesn't even say Jonah, I need to borrow your sons for about four years.

00:14:26.567 --> 00:14:31.229
I'll send them back, maybe.

00:14:31.229 --> 00:14:38.528
He doesn't even say hello, jonah Nice name, jonah, by the way.

00:14:38.528 --> 00:14:39.121
You know.

00:14:39.121 --> 00:14:47.269
He doesn't say any of that, it's just like oh, jonah's not even there, okay.

00:14:47.269 --> 00:14:54.865
And he looks right at Peter and Andrew and he quickens them with the word Follow me.

00:14:54.865 --> 00:15:08.811
That word penetrated their spirits at such a depth that they immediately stopped what they were doing.

00:15:08.811 --> 00:15:11.827
They just dropped their nets.

00:15:11.827 --> 00:15:14.508
They were like, look, they were like this.

00:15:14.508 --> 00:15:28.730
They were like Didn't say goodbye, didn't go in and kiss mom, didn't pat the kids on the head, didn't do any of that.

00:15:28.730 --> 00:15:36.110
They just dropped everything that they were doing and started to follow.

00:15:36.110 --> 00:15:50.346
When Jesus quickened them and gave them this command, as soon as they dropped everything and began to follow, it would cost them everything.

00:15:50.346 --> 00:16:00.647
I don't know that they knew that, amen.

00:16:00.647 --> 00:16:07.235
I don't know that they knew that, but they would soon find out.

00:16:10.302 --> 00:16:18.298
Let's turn to Mark, first chapter, verse 19.

00:16:18.298 --> 00:16:31.927
Same story, only Mark adds a little bit of additional detail, and then he goes on to tell that Jesus walked down the beach a little bit and found James and John and their father, zebedee.

00:16:31.927 --> 00:16:42.366
Now, there's every indication that the two families worked together, which probably meant that they were related, maybe cousins.

00:16:42.366 --> 00:16:49.155
Maybe Jonah and Zebedee were brothers, or maybe they were cousins, who knows?

00:16:49.155 --> 00:16:54.870
But obviously they were working close together.

00:16:54.870 --> 00:17:00.568
Zebedee was there, jonah was there, peter and Andrew were there, james and John were there.

00:17:00.568 --> 00:17:07.153
You find out later that James and John and Peter and Andrew were partners.

00:17:07.153 --> 00:17:09.805
So if they were partners, their father was partners.

00:17:09.805 --> 00:17:13.232
Chances are they were cousins.

00:17:13.232 --> 00:17:16.242
Anyway, it doesn't matter.

00:17:17.345 --> 00:17:27.212
When he, jesus, had gone a little farther from there, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and Johnny's brother, who were also in the boat mending their nets.

00:17:27.212 --> 00:17:33.932
So they were busy doing the business Zebedee's business, their business.

00:17:33.932 --> 00:17:43.480
It is indicated several places in the Bible that this business was quite prosperous.

00:17:43.480 --> 00:17:59.950
It was so prosperous that when John went to the temple area following Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed and stopped at the door, they weren't just letting anybody get into Caiaphas and Annas' house, amen.

00:17:59.950 --> 00:18:05.731
But when he stopped at the door, the person that was guarding the door recognized him because he was a businessman.

00:18:05.731 --> 00:18:09.911
Not because he was a disciple, but because he was a businessman.

00:18:09.911 --> 00:18:13.708
Amen, praise God.

00:18:13.708 --> 00:18:19.184
So he called them.

00:18:19.184 --> 00:18:23.189
Called them with the same words follow me.

00:18:23.189 --> 00:18:31.461
Called them with the same words follow me.

00:18:31.481 --> 00:18:38.480
Now, this time, not only did they leave their nets, but they left Zebedee and all the servants in the boat with all the work to do.

00:18:38.480 --> 00:18:42.688
You got to hear that.

00:18:42.688 --> 00:18:47.015
Yeah, this is not the story you know of.

00:18:47.015 --> 00:18:56.047
Remember the story in I think it's in the Gospel of Luke, where he says follow me.

00:18:56.047 --> 00:19:00.288
And then one guy says well, you know, I've got to go say goodbye to my father.

00:19:00.288 --> 00:19:04.865
I've got some work to do, let me finish that work.

00:19:04.865 --> 00:19:07.622
I've got somebody to bury, let me bury that.

00:19:07.622 --> 00:19:10.387
And Jesus gives them a response every time.

00:19:10.387 --> 00:19:18.446
You know, let the dead bury their dead, but you follow me, amen.

00:19:19.788 --> 00:19:29.208
Jesus again didn't say boo to Zebedee, Said you know, I'm sorry, but I'm going to disrupt your business here for a while.

00:19:29.208 --> 00:19:39.633
What he wasn't really telling him, you know, because they would accuse him of stealing their resources, I mean, he would.

00:19:39.633 --> 00:19:42.324
So I've heard it taught that.

00:19:42.324 --> 00:19:46.950
That's why he had to tell him I'm going to make you fishers of men because I couldn't mess with your business.

00:19:46.950 --> 00:20:12.492
But I don't know about all that, but I do know this that he didn't even talk to Zebedee and he didn't talk to Jonah, didn't even consider their plight, because Jesus was not sent to make their business prosperous, he was sent to build the kingdom of God, amen.

00:20:13.180 --> 00:20:22.471
Now, they had a role in that, in that it was their role to provide a home and raise up Peter, james, john and Andrew.

00:20:22.471 --> 00:20:28.672
But when it came time to answer the call, all of that was done.

00:20:28.672 --> 00:20:30.261
Are you hearing me?

00:20:30.261 --> 00:20:45.134
I mean, when it's time to let go of your children, it's time to let go of the children, and if Jesus comes and says follow me, amen, that trumps whatever is going on in the family.

00:20:45.134 --> 00:20:50.670
So the same thing happened with Peter and Andrew.

00:20:50.670 --> 00:20:54.026
It happened with James and John, except they left Zebedee in the boat.

00:20:54.026 --> 00:20:55.390
I love it.

00:20:55.390 --> 00:21:03.869
They just kind of gave him a little wave and they took off and started following him.

00:21:09.539 --> 00:21:10.040
Not only did they listen.

00:21:10.040 --> 00:21:11.343
Here's what, here's what's strange about this.

00:21:11.343 --> 00:21:19.904
When Jesus says follow me, I mean it's implicit that you're going to follow him and you're going to go where he goes.

00:21:19.904 --> 00:21:26.115
I mean that obviously that's what following means, except they don't know where he's going.

00:21:26.115 --> 00:21:32.949
They think, okay, this is just going to be.

00:21:32.949 --> 00:21:35.213
You know, john the Baptist part two.

00:21:35.213 --> 00:21:41.833
You know we're going to go, we're going to follow him and he's going to do some teaching.

00:21:41.833 --> 00:21:44.106
We're going to receive an offering.

00:21:44.106 --> 00:21:46.498
We're going to do some teaching, we're going to receive an offering, we're going to do some baptisms.

00:21:46.498 --> 00:21:57.819
You know he's going to do, you know this and that, and then we'll go to another village and we'll have another crowd and we'll do some more teaching and we'll have some more baptisms, you know, and we'll help him, do all those kinds of things.

00:21:57.819 --> 00:22:03.185
And then we get a break and we come back and we do some fishing and then we go back and do.

00:22:03.185 --> 00:22:06.410
You know, it's just going to be John the Baptist part two, right?

00:22:07.190 --> 00:22:11.796
Except that John the Baptist did not have a ministry of miracles.

00:22:11.796 --> 00:22:31.625
John the Baptist had a ministry of preparation.

00:22:31.625 --> 00:22:32.728
His specific role was to prepare Israel for Jesus.

00:22:32.728 --> 00:22:34.191
His role was to prepare Israel for the ministry of miracles.

00:22:34.191 --> 00:22:34.992
But he was not a miracle ministry.

00:22:34.992 --> 00:22:35.835
They had not seen this yet.

00:22:35.835 --> 00:22:36.215
Are you hearing me?

00:22:36.215 --> 00:22:38.682
They hadn't seen what was about to happen.

00:22:38.682 --> 00:22:41.391
They had no clue that this was about to happen.

00:22:41.391 --> 00:22:48.432
Nobody knew this was about to happen, that this was about to happen.

00:22:48.432 --> 00:22:49.936
Nobody knew this was about to happen.

00:22:49.936 --> 00:23:02.089
You have to understand that when Jesus came out from the wilderness and started ministering in Israel, the Bible says repeatedly no one has ever done these things before.

00:23:02.089 --> 00:23:05.255
No one has ever done these mighty works.

00:23:05.255 --> 00:23:14.469
Everybody was amazed, because not only of the way he taught, but of what he did Praise God.

00:23:14.469 --> 00:23:17.714
So they didn't know where he was going.

00:23:17.714 --> 00:23:38.463
They didn't know that it was going to be a ministry of miracles and they didn't know that every step they took as they followed Jesus was a step into the unknown and a step into these previously unrevealed manifestations of God's power.

00:23:38.463 --> 00:23:47.140
They were created to be the witnesses of what Jesus did.

00:23:47.140 --> 00:23:50.032
Listen to me very carefully.

00:23:50.032 --> 00:23:54.494
These men were not hand-chosen.

00:23:54.494 --> 00:23:57.431
These men were created.

00:23:57.431 --> 00:24:09.859
Their spirits were created by God to be the witnesses by which the ministry of Jesus would be reported to the world.

00:24:09.859 --> 00:24:16.631
You have a man named Matthew.

00:24:16.651 --> 00:24:21.008
The first book in the New Testament is the Gospel according to Matthew.

00:24:21.008 --> 00:24:31.654
The first words that were spoken to Matthew when he was sitting at a tax collector's desk stealing the people of Israel blind.

00:24:31.654 --> 00:24:44.611
The first words that Jesus spoke to him were not you thief, you scoundrel, how dare you rob the people of God?

00:24:44.611 --> 00:24:46.335
He didn't say that.

00:24:46.335 --> 00:24:51.490
The first words that he said to Matthew were follow me.

00:24:51.490 --> 00:25:08.034
Matthew got up and left his money on the table, got up and just flat out walked away from one of the most lucrative gigs in all of Israel, just walked out and just started to follow him.

00:25:08.034 --> 00:25:19.920
But it was given to Matthew to write the opening verse of the new covenant.

00:25:19.920 --> 00:25:27.259
This is the genealogy of Jesus the Christ, the Son of Abraham, the Son of David, oh my God.

00:25:27.259 --> 00:25:35.204
And there's 20 years worth of preaching right there.

00:25:35.924 --> 00:25:41.936
And it was given to Matthew to write the Gospel that would be carried to so many Jewish believers.

00:25:41.936 --> 00:26:05.515
With two words, with two words, with two words, jesus quickened that destiny and literally just jerked him right off of that tax collector table and put him in a place where he could witness everything that Jesus was going to do.

00:26:05.515 --> 00:26:23.832
Hallelujah, praise God, mark was written by the disciple Mark, but it was really the gospel according to Peter that Peter gave to Mark.

00:26:23.832 --> 00:26:29.172
Amen, this gospel according to Peter.

00:26:29.172 --> 00:26:31.445
Amen Peter.

00:26:31.445 --> 00:26:40.189
Well, all his stubbornness and all his thick-headedness and everything else that we can say about Peter was created by God.

00:26:40.269 --> 00:26:54.153
Before time began to be the one that would say this is the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, there was a man named John.

00:26:54.153 --> 00:27:00.105
Glory to God, and he's the one that got to define that.

00:27:00.105 --> 00:27:07.295
The gospel begins with the ministry of John the Baptist and he carried it on before All the rest.

00:27:07.295 --> 00:27:19.896
It was given to Peter to say this these signs shall follow them that believe Amen, they shall heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out devils, heal lepers.

00:27:19.896 --> 00:27:24.732
Praise God, praise God.

00:27:28.108 --> 00:27:30.894
Luke's gospel was essentially Paul's gospel.

00:27:30.894 --> 00:27:32.278
Amen.

00:27:32.278 --> 00:27:58.278
And Paul, as he said, was one that was born out of time, but he was called to be a witness I said called to be a witness of the great things that God had done, sent his man, luke, to into Judea, into Bethlehem, into Jerusalem, where he interviewed countless hundreds of people and accumulated the information that would then become the gospel of Luke.

00:27:58.278 --> 00:28:03.796
And people knew it was, it was a tribute, it was really Paul, was really behind it.

00:28:03.796 --> 00:28:05.829
Are you hearing me?

00:28:06.164 --> 00:28:12.654
And we know about John, the same words follow me, follow me, follow me, follow me, follow me.

00:28:12.654 --> 00:28:39.118
And he quickened, one after another after another, into a walk that they would never, ever, ever have found by themselves and they would never have expected, totally unknown, totally unmanifested, before it had never been revealed.

00:28:39.118 --> 00:28:44.471
And yet that's what, when he says follow me, that's what he's says follow me.

00:28:44.471 --> 00:28:47.866
That's what he's what he's driving at, that's what he wants you to do.

00:28:47.866 --> 00:28:51.094
He's not going to lead, he's not going to take you to some place.

00:28:51.094 --> 00:28:53.086
Listen, he didn't take.

00:28:53.086 --> 00:28:57.278
He did take them, but this wasn't the main thing, you think.

00:28:57.278 --> 00:29:12.612
Well, all those nights they spent around the campfire and jesus telling them all these wonderful things, and it's true, and they were witnesses of that and they recorded many of those things.

00:29:12.612 --> 00:29:24.516
But all of those stories that Jesus told, not a one of them could take the place of sitting there and watching that fish and that bread just multiply right before their eyes.

00:29:24.516 --> 00:29:33.074
And at the end of the day, when everybody had been fed, there were still 12 baskets left and Jesus said y'all just take one of them apiece.

00:29:33.074 --> 00:29:36.049
Glory to God.

00:29:37.608 --> 00:29:42.189
Can you imagine what it was like to see thousands of people healed at once?

00:29:42.189 --> 00:29:56.472
Can you imagine what it was like to see hundreds of demon-possessed people all of a sudden set free, Not one at a time?

00:29:56.472 --> 00:30:00.378
Like Peace Be still?

00:30:00.378 --> 00:30:21.175
Can you imagine how Jesus and Peter, by the Holy Ghost, could sum it up in one sentence, this word you know how Jesus of Nazareth was anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power?

00:30:21.175 --> 00:30:26.330
Who went about doing good and healing all those that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.

00:30:28.329 --> 00:30:29.333
That was the witness.

00:30:29.333 --> 00:30:30.926
That was the witness Everybody say.

00:30:30.926 --> 00:30:31.671
That's the witness.

00:30:31.671 --> 00:30:48.417
That's the witness that Jesus gave them simply by inviting them Come, follow me, follow me, follow me, follow me, and I'm going to show you great and mighty things that you know not.

00:30:48.417 --> 00:30:53.232
And you haven't even called on me yet.

00:30:53.232 --> 00:30:57.635
What do you think you're going to see if you call on me?

00:30:57.635 --> 00:31:02.291
Well, peter found that out.

00:31:02.291 --> 00:31:02.891
Well, peter found that out.

00:31:02.891 --> 00:31:12.193
See, peter found out that he got to see things that he had never even planned on seeing just by answering the call.

00:31:12.193 --> 00:31:25.936
But if he then called on him, as Jeremiah 33, 3 says amen, then he called on me, lord, behold their threats, and you know what happened next.

00:31:25.936 --> 00:31:28.444
The whole place where they were sitting, then he called on them, lord, behold their threats, and you know what happened next.

00:31:28.444 --> 00:31:31.374
The whole place where they were sitting was shaken by the power of God.

00:31:31.374 --> 00:31:55.923
So Peter learned how to magnify the power that was given to him to witness, simply by calling on the name of the Lord Hallelujah, hallelujah, praise the Lord.

00:31:55.923 --> 00:32:04.090
So here's one that goes with the follow me, if you're going to follow after Jesus?

00:32:04.090 --> 00:32:05.575
Amen, you're going to have to deal with this.

00:32:05.575 --> 00:32:06.678
What comes next?

00:32:06.678 --> 00:32:09.111
You know the story.

00:32:09.111 --> 00:32:10.047
This is.

00:32:10.166 --> 00:32:14.798
You can turn to Luke, chapter 5 as we begin this story.

00:32:14.798 --> 00:32:16.691
You know the story.

00:32:16.691 --> 00:32:40.190
Jesus was followed by a great crowd and so he got into one of their boats, followed by a great crowd, and so he got into one of their boats and rode off the side of the, had them row off the edge of the water so he could speak to them from the boat without the crowd just thronging after him Amen.

00:32:40.190 --> 00:32:46.400
So here's the group of disciples that he had so far.

00:32:46.400 --> 00:33:02.066
And when he had stopped speaking Luke, chapter 5 and verse 4, when he had stopped speaking, he said to Simon launch out into the deep, launch out into the deep.

00:33:07.529 --> 00:33:15.057
Now he was talking to Simon about taking his boat and rowing out into deeper waters.

00:33:15.057 --> 00:33:21.642
But then again, jesus is always talking on multiple levels Amen.

00:33:21.642 --> 00:33:28.715
And when he spoke these words, amen, he was speaking to all those that would follow him.

00:33:28.715 --> 00:33:41.608
And when he was speaking to all those that would follow after him, he was telling them that if you're going to follow after me, you're going to have to launch out into the deep where I am.

00:33:41.608 --> 00:33:43.895
Amen.

00:33:43.895 --> 00:33:45.347
Because listen.

00:33:45.347 --> 00:33:50.134
He didn't stay by the shore where the waters were shallow.

00:33:50.134 --> 00:34:11.597
He launched out into deeper water to minister the reality of the kingdom, and then he told His disciples to launch out even deeper, beyond that, and we're going to catch some fish.

00:34:13.387 --> 00:34:17.036
Now you have to know that Jesus was not interested in catching fish.

00:34:17.036 --> 00:34:18.552
He was a carpenter.

00:34:18.552 --> 00:34:20.784
He was not a fish.

00:34:20.784 --> 00:34:24.793
Any time that Jesus had to go fishing, a miracle happened.

00:34:24.793 --> 00:34:27.039
Oh, you're not hearing.

00:34:27.039 --> 00:34:31.673
Now, if he needed a table, he'd build one.

00:34:31.673 --> 00:34:40.634
If he needed a fish, they just plopped into the boat, or they plopped onto the fire, or they plopped up with a coin in their mouth.

00:34:40.634 --> 00:34:43.989
Glory to God.

00:34:44.907 --> 00:34:52.552
So he's telling these fishermen and Peter's going to give the carpenter boy a lesson in fishing.

00:34:52.552 --> 00:34:54.952
Right, are you ready for this?

00:34:54.952 --> 00:35:03.005
See, I'm telling you you can't understand any of this until you put your sandals on that Peter and John were wearing.

00:35:03.005 --> 00:35:03.367
I mean you can't.

00:35:03.367 --> 00:35:04.672
You got to walk in their shoes, except they didn't wear shoes.

00:35:04.672 --> 00:35:05.956
They wore sandals on that Peter and John were wearing.

00:35:05.956 --> 00:35:06.336
I mean you can't.

00:35:06.336 --> 00:35:08.425
You got to walk in their shoes, except they didn't wear shoes, they wore sandals.

00:35:14.304 --> 00:35:21.795
Hallelujah, launch out into the deep and let down your nets, for a catch Must be at least a dozen songs about that.

00:35:21.795 --> 00:35:32.065
So Simon answered and said to him Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing.

00:35:32.065 --> 00:35:35.949
Nevertheless, at your word, I will let down the net.

00:35:35.949 --> 00:35:46.737
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish and the net was breaking, and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.

00:35:46.737 --> 00:35:47.938
Remember I told you that.

00:35:47.938 --> 00:35:51.300
And Jesus said to them do not be afraid.

00:35:51.300 --> 00:35:59.340
Put in parentheses write this in your Bible Of the deep, don't be afraid of the deep.

00:35:59.340 --> 00:36:02.925
From now on you will catch men.

00:36:02.925 --> 00:36:06.074
So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed him.

00:36:09.704 --> 00:36:19.813
Jesus, if you're going to follow after Jesus, you better get ready for launching out into the deep, because that's where he lives.

00:36:19.813 --> 00:36:24.280
He doesn't live in the simple, he doesn't live in the shallow, he doesn't.

00:36:24.280 --> 00:36:26.971
Ezekiel even knew this.

00:36:26.971 --> 00:36:40.192
He said there's there's waters that are up to the ankles and then there's waters that are up to the knees, there's waters that are up to the waist and then there's waters that a man can swim in, out in the middle of the of the river.

00:36:40.192 --> 00:36:52.532
Amen've got to get out in the middle of the river, where the Holy Ghost is when your feet can't touch the ground and you are totally dependent on what he's going to teach you.

00:36:52.532 --> 00:36:54.115
Amen.

00:36:54.706 --> 00:37:03.333
But here's what you need to understand Christianity has been sold into nursery school level bondage.

00:37:03.333 --> 00:37:08.094
They don't want to launch out into the deep.

00:37:08.094 --> 00:37:15.911
The first words that Jesus spoke to His disciples concerning this launch out into the deep.

00:37:15.911 --> 00:37:23.934
They've completely ignored those words and they've replaced it with launch your toy boats in the kiddie pool.

00:37:23.934 --> 00:37:30.773
They don't want to know anything about the deep things of God.

00:37:30.773 --> 00:37:38.831
All they want to do is take their little toy boats and play over in the kiddie pool or over on the edge of the water.

00:37:38.831 --> 00:37:40.047
You know how.

00:37:40.047 --> 00:37:43.864
I've been there, you've been there, everybody's got kids that have been there.

00:37:43.864 --> 00:37:44.150
You take been there.

00:37:44.150 --> 00:37:45.210
Everybody's got kids have been there.

00:37:45.210 --> 00:37:46.784
You take your kids to the ocean, amen.

00:37:47.827 --> 00:37:48.429
How does it look?

00:37:48.429 --> 00:38:04.737
Kids are playing with their toys right by the water's edge and mom or dad, or two moms and two dads or somebody, are like a barricade, a perimeter around that kid to keep them from going any further out into the water.

00:38:04.737 --> 00:38:21.697
Well, of course Junior just wants to get on out there, but Junior's not equipped right, so they're going to block him and they're sitting there having conversation and all of a sudden, junior will get a little bit exploratory and they push him back up.

00:38:21.697 --> 00:38:24.048
But they're not going to let him get out there very far.

00:38:24.048 --> 00:38:25.471
He's going to be in that area.

00:38:26.693 --> 00:38:29.478
Oh, glory to God, that's exactly what Christianity is like.

00:38:29.478 --> 00:38:36.873
They've got guardians that are going to keep you from going out into the deep because they don't want you knowing these things.

00:38:36.873 --> 00:38:41.146
But this is exactly Jesus's one of Jesus's first commands.

00:38:41.146 --> 00:38:51.811
After he told them to follow him, the next thing we hear Him say to them is launch out into the deep, go over to God.

00:38:51.811 --> 00:38:58.195
You can't be playing around in the kiddie pool and get anything from God.

00:38:58.195 --> 00:39:00.233
You've got to launch out into the deep.

00:39:00.233 --> 00:39:06.411
And the immediate first response of the church is Master, we've toiled all night.

00:39:06.411 --> 00:39:10.514
In other words, we've been in the kiddie pool all night.

00:39:10.514 --> 00:39:15.096
Surely that ought to be enough, amen.

00:39:17.387 --> 00:39:25.177
But what happens when you toil all night in the kiddie pool is you extract meaninglessness from ankle-deep water.

00:39:25.177 --> 00:39:33.065
Have you ever noticed, if you wanted to go fishing, if you wanted to do surf fishing, amen?

00:39:33.065 --> 00:39:48.512
That you just can't stand at the edge of the water and let your little hook dangle down in six inches of water and the occasional foot of water as the waves come in and out, you're not going to catch anything.

00:39:48.512 --> 00:40:00.313
You've got to wade out to about here and then you've got to cast way out so that you're at least out there in six, seven, eight feet of water, because that's where the fish are.

00:40:00.313 --> 00:40:16.527
And if you want to prove that, just go hang out there for a while and feel all those things that are moving around your knees and your ankles and nibbling at your you know whatever and occasional thing that's bigger than you brushes by and you go.

00:40:16.527 --> 00:40:20.550
Oh, I think I'm going to go back in there with the little kids.

00:40:20.550 --> 00:40:21.416
What would it have gone?

00:40:21.416 --> 00:40:22.851
You've got to fish out there there with the little kids.

00:40:22.851 --> 00:40:22.603
What would it have gone?

00:40:22.603 --> 00:40:27.329
You got to fish out there.

00:40:27.349 --> 00:40:35.398
The church is great it is a professional institution at extracting meaninglessness out of the kiddie pool area.

00:40:35.398 --> 00:40:39.181
You know they pick up a.

00:40:39.181 --> 00:40:44.538
They pick up a plastic shovel and they they think it's an archaeological discovery.

00:40:44.538 --> 00:40:47.838
I mean, they're just great at it.

00:40:47.838 --> 00:40:52.655
It's meaningless stuff because they haven't gone out into the deep.

00:40:52.655 --> 00:41:01.724
And you know why it's a toil for the church to labor in the shallow waters, because they're doing it on their own strength.

00:41:01.724 --> 00:41:06.197
They're not doing it in the realm of power and miracles.

00:41:06.197 --> 00:41:15.034
If you have power and miracles and revelation working for you, you can launch out in the deep, amen.

00:41:15.034 --> 00:41:24.793
And you can make sense out of what you find, because out there in the deep is all about miracles, it's all about power, it's all about Holy Ghost.

00:41:24.793 --> 00:41:28.114
You can make sense out of it, amen.

00:41:28.114 --> 00:41:43.273
But unless you have that amen, even the shallow waters don't make sense, and so you have to come up with meaninglessness to sell people, to try to get them to buy off of what.

00:41:43.273 --> 00:41:45.050
It's just ridiculous.

00:41:47.351 --> 00:41:52.554
Because we have discarded Listen to me very carefully we have discarded a first word principle.

00:41:52.554 --> 00:42:09.396
First word principle is to launch out into the deep where Jesus is, and if we ignore that principle we're going to be in trouble, and the church has been ignoring that principle for 1800 years.

00:42:09.396 --> 00:42:23.476
We can't be afraid of launching out into the deep, but the problem is that when you launch out in the deep, it's going to cost you everything.

00:42:23.476 --> 00:42:35.871
So when they brought their boats to land after they had followed the commandment to launch out into the deep, they forsook all to follow him.

00:42:35.871 --> 00:42:45.753
They forsook their father, their mother, their other brothers and sisters that weren't called.

00:42:45.753 --> 00:42:51.510
Glory to God.

00:42:51.510 --> 00:42:56.217
They forsook everything and just followed after Jesus.

00:42:56.217 --> 00:43:13.025
And there's another reason why Mere men prefer not to follow after Jesus into the deep they count the cost and they don't want to pay it.

00:43:13.025 --> 00:43:23.483
Glory to God, are you hearing what the Holy Ghost is saying?

00:43:23.483 --> 00:43:25.661
We've got one more, one more, one more.

00:43:25.742 --> 00:43:29.757
John, chapter 1, verse 38.

00:43:29.757 --> 00:43:35.501
Hallelujah, somebody praise the Lord?

00:43:35.501 --> 00:43:52.242
Jesus had been identified by John, baptized by John, and the next day after his baptism he went back to the River Jordan.

00:43:52.242 --> 00:43:58.036
John again pointed him out and said behold the Lamb of God.

00:43:58.036 --> 00:44:10.530
At that point some of John's disciples decided they're going to follow after this Jesus and see what's going on.

00:44:10.530 --> 00:44:12.061
So they followed after him.

00:44:12.061 --> 00:44:23.422
And verse 38 says Then Jesus turned and, seeing them following, said to them what do you seek?

00:44:24.336 --> 00:44:30.934
Said to them what do you seek?

00:44:30.934 --> 00:44:37.483
Now let's stop there for a moment.

00:44:37.483 --> 00:44:43.130
As soon as Jesus extends his hand to you and says come, follow me.

00:44:43.130 --> 00:44:54.454
You're going to hear him answer or you're going to hear he's going to wait for you to ask this question.

00:44:54.454 --> 00:44:59.929
He's going to say what do you seek?

00:44:59.929 --> 00:45:04.510
What do you seek, he said when he's talking about John the Baptist?

00:45:04.510 --> 00:45:05.871
He said when he was talking about John the Baptist.

00:45:05.871 --> 00:45:10.452
He said what did you seek when you went out to see John the Baptist?

00:45:10.452 --> 00:45:18.264
Did you seek someone who was in rich clothing, soft raiments, well-fed?

00:45:18.264 --> 00:45:19.519
Did you seek that person?

00:45:19.519 --> 00:45:25.422
Those people are in king's palaces, but what did you really go out to seek?

00:45:25.422 --> 00:45:29.862
I'm going to tell you what you were seeking.

00:45:29.862 --> 00:45:35.340
You were seeking the one who was sent to prepare a way before the Lord.

00:45:35.340 --> 00:45:48.382
You were sent to seek that one that Isaiah prophesied over, and I'm here to tell you that there is not one born of woman that is greater than John the Baptist.

00:45:48.382 --> 00:45:50.487
Hallelujah.

00:45:50.487 --> 00:45:51.969
What are you seeking?

00:45:51.969 --> 00:45:53.541
What are you seeking after?

00:45:54.456 --> 00:46:03.190
I think this is a great question to ask people when they profess that Jesus is their Lord and Savior.

00:46:03.190 --> 00:46:05.402
Ask them what are you seeking?

00:46:05.402 --> 00:46:16.586
What are you seeking Him for, and what?

00:46:16.586 --> 00:46:29.827
The answer to that question is perhaps one of the most important things you can get people to tell you, because it will automatically tell you where they are Amen.

00:46:29.827 --> 00:46:39.740
It will automatically tell you, you know, if they are in a denominational world that only teaches forgiveness of sins and doesn't teach anything else.

00:46:39.740 --> 00:46:43.454
Are they in a charismatic world?

00:46:43.454 --> 00:46:47.726
Where are they in this roadmap of Christianity?

00:46:47.726 --> 00:47:04.719
And it'll tell you whether they're hooked on ideas and concepts that men teach or are they connected to a living God and they're listening to what he says to them?

00:47:04.719 --> 00:47:15.547
What do you seek?

00:47:15.568 --> 00:47:31.054
And so here are the disciples who had been following after John say to him Rabbi, where are you staying Now?

00:47:31.054 --> 00:47:32.637
Who cares where Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, is staying?

00:47:32.637 --> 00:47:34.161
Who cares where his house is?

00:47:34.161 --> 00:47:35.003
Who cares?

00:47:35.003 --> 00:47:35.344
You know?

00:47:35.344 --> 00:47:39.958
That is not even close to a pertinent answer.

00:47:39.958 --> 00:47:43.764
That is a wrong answer.

00:47:43.764 --> 00:47:51.739
Amen, where are you staying?

00:47:51.739 --> 00:47:54.846
But Jesus just ignores that.

00:47:54.846 --> 00:47:55.867
I love it.

00:47:55.867 --> 00:48:05.981
He ends up taking him to his house, but he just ignores what they say and he says come and see.

00:48:05.981 --> 00:48:16.842
In other words, follow me, come and see, come and see, come and see, come and see, come and see.

00:48:16.842 --> 00:48:21.389
Come and see something you've never seen before.

00:48:22.416 --> 00:48:28.608
When he asked the disciples, what do you seek, he was testing their focus.

00:48:28.608 --> 00:48:30.858
They've been hanging out with John the Baptist.

00:48:30.858 --> 00:48:37.077
Of all people in Israel listen to me of all people in Israel.

00:48:37.077 --> 00:48:43.539
They should have given him at least a decent answer what do you seek?

00:48:43.539 --> 00:48:46.454
We're seeking after the one that John told us about.

00:48:46.454 --> 00:48:48.920
That would have been Jesus.

00:48:48.920 --> 00:48:50.204
A good answer.

00:48:50.204 --> 00:48:51.927
We can work with that.

00:48:51.927 --> 00:48:55.615
Where are you staying?

00:48:55.615 --> 00:48:58.563
That's a that's a no-brainer answer.

00:48:58.844 --> 00:49:04.199
Anybody could have said that you didn't have to hang out with John the Baptist, you didn't have to eat locusts in the desert, you didn't have to.

00:49:04.199 --> 00:49:06.293
You know, with John the Baptist you didn't have to eat locusts in the desert, you didn't have to.

00:49:06.293 --> 00:49:08.762
You know, you didn't need John the Baptist for that.

00:49:08.762 --> 00:49:17.423
You're not prepared, even though you've been John's disciples.

00:49:17.423 --> 00:49:29.643
You're really not prepared because if that's the best you've got, you haven't been listening, but Jesus was merciful got, you haven't been listening, but Jesus was merciful.

00:49:29.643 --> 00:49:33.505
He said come and see, Come and see, come and see.

00:49:33.505 --> 00:49:43.224
They were stuck in this mundane, everyday, all day, worldly experience level.

00:49:43.224 --> 00:49:48.425
Well, the where are you staying?

00:49:48.425 --> 00:49:53.021
You got a place to stay.

00:49:53.021 --> 00:49:54.641
No, he didn't have a place to stay.

00:49:54.641 --> 00:49:59.038
He would say that the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.

00:50:05.965 --> 00:50:24.045
But instead of focusing on something like the mundane level of where are you staying, he said come and see, and if you'll come and see and you'll stay with me, I will show you great and mighty things, a life of miracles, a life of power, a life of of sacrifice.

00:50:24.045 --> 00:50:27.731
You will see the dead raised, you'll see the blind.

00:50:27.731 --> 00:50:28.376
See you'll.

00:50:28.376 --> 00:50:30.380
You'll see the deaf here you'll.

00:50:30.380 --> 00:50:34.389
These things will become commonplace to you.

00:50:34.389 --> 00:50:38.117
It got so.

00:50:38.117 --> 00:50:49.719
It got so commonplace in peter's life that the book of acts records that he could walk down the street and people would get healed by coming in proximity of his shadow.

00:50:52.664 --> 00:50:55.429
And then he said this at the last verse of chapter one.

00:50:55.429 --> 00:50:56.918
He said come and see.

00:50:56.918 --> 00:51:10.065
He said if you think it's a big thing, nathaniel, that I saw you sitting under the tree, wait until you see angels descending and ascending upon the Son of man.

00:51:10.065 --> 00:51:12.400
Wait until you see that kind of stuff.

00:51:12.400 --> 00:51:14.887
Come and see, come and see.

00:51:14.887 --> 00:51:18.762
I'm not asking you to hang out with a prophet.

00:51:18.762 --> 00:51:21.007
Come and see, come and see.

00:51:21.007 --> 00:51:22.581
I'm not asking you to hang out with the Messiah.

00:51:22.581 --> 00:51:23.547
I'm asking you to hang out with God.

00:51:23.547 --> 00:51:24.110
Come and see, come and see.

00:51:24.110 --> 00:51:25.114
I'm not asking you to hang out with the Messiah.

00:51:25.114 --> 00:51:27.159
I'm asking you to hang out with God.

00:51:27.159 --> 00:51:29.186
Come and see, come and see.

00:51:29.186 --> 00:51:31.963
Come and see what God in man is like.

00:51:31.963 --> 00:51:34.119
Come and see, come and see.

00:51:34.119 --> 00:51:36.181
Come and see what these miracles.

00:51:36.181 --> 00:51:38.675
Come and see what this body of Christ is like.

00:51:38.675 --> 00:51:40.922
Come and see what this church is going to be.

00:51:40.922 --> 00:51:43.438
Come and see what this God is going to do.

00:51:43.438 --> 00:51:46.163
Come and see what this new creation is all about.

00:51:46.163 --> 00:51:47.525
Come and see, come and see.

00:51:47.525 --> 00:51:48.065
Come and see.

00:51:48.266 --> 00:52:03.809
The Spirit and the bride say come and see, he's calling you, telling you come, follow me.

00:52:03.809 --> 00:52:10.628
And then he's going to turn and look at you and say what are you seeking?

00:52:10.628 --> 00:52:12.735
Are you seeking some help?

00:52:12.735 --> 00:52:16.003
Hmm, is that?

00:52:16.003 --> 00:52:20.565
All you want God for is a little help?

00:52:20.565 --> 00:52:26.429
Help me, jesus.

00:52:26.429 --> 00:52:38.588
Looking for some little blessings every once in a while, that's not what he's inviting you into.

00:52:38.588 --> 00:52:45.175
He is not putting a call of God on your life to draw you into Himself.

00:52:45.175 --> 00:52:49.617
He's calling you to become who he is, as he is.

00:52:49.617 --> 00:52:52.666
So you are, come and see.

00:52:52.666 --> 00:52:54.742
Come and see.

00:52:54.742 --> 00:52:56.639
Come and see.

00:52:56.639 --> 00:53:05.342
And the Bible says that they saw where he was and they stayed with Him.

00:53:05.342 --> 00:53:18.125
They saw where he was staying and it wasn't a house, it was a place in the kingdom of God.

00:53:18.125 --> 00:53:22.942
They saw where he was and they stayed with Him.

00:53:22.942 --> 00:53:26.297
Oh, glory to God.

00:53:34.409 --> 00:53:39.481
You've heard me tell this story so many times, but I don't care.

00:53:39.481 --> 00:53:49.565
It has made me who I am, so I have to tell it, especially on this message.

00:53:49.565 --> 00:53:59.784
But I'm 15 years old, been saved about six months, six months after the automobile accident.

00:53:59.784 --> 00:54:03.021
I was 15.

00:54:03.021 --> 00:54:06.641
My mom and dad were watching television and went into the house and I was in.

00:54:06.641 --> 00:54:27.414
My mom and dad were watching television and went into the house and I was in the living room and I was just kind of laying on the living room couch, praying, meditating, thinking about God and all of a sudden I was aware that I wasn't alone.

00:54:27.414 --> 00:54:44.815
I opened my eyes, I looked up and there's Jesus in the living room, probably from me to where Roger is seated about that far and you think of all the ways that Jesus could have shown himself.

00:54:44.976 --> 00:54:57.387
But he showed himself to me as he would have looked like coming out of the basement of Pilate's dungeon after he had been scourged by 600 Roman soldiers.

00:54:57.387 --> 00:55:02.282
He had almost no skin on his body.

00:55:02.282 --> 00:55:07.402
Most of his beard was gone, most of his hair was plucked out.

00:55:07.402 --> 00:55:17.528
His head was punctured with the wounds of the thorns.

00:55:17.528 --> 00:55:29.934
One eye was out of its socket, kind of hanging on the cheek, kind of hanging on the cheek.

00:55:29.934 --> 00:55:39.034
Blood saturated the garment that he had on what hair he had left was all matted with blood.

00:55:39.034 --> 00:55:45.280
And he looked at me and I'm you know, I'm just a kid, I don't.

00:55:45.320 --> 00:55:47.385
I was totally unprepared for this.

00:55:47.385 --> 00:55:53.083
You know, I was totally unprepared for a vision.

00:55:53.083 --> 00:55:56.351
You know those things.

00:55:56.351 --> 00:55:57.976
Just you know they weren't allowed.

00:55:57.976 --> 00:56:02.885
Well, I thank God that he didn't pay any attention to the bylaws.

00:56:02.885 --> 00:56:05.699
You know, he just showed up.

00:56:05.699 --> 00:56:07.172
I thank God that he didn't pay any attention to the bylaws.

00:56:07.172 --> 00:56:28.391
You know, he just showed up and I can remember he stuck out one hand and just went, follow me and then he left, but he never really left.

00:56:28.391 --> 00:56:29.414
He never he left, but he never really left.

00:56:29.414 --> 00:56:33.902
He never really left.

00:56:33.943 --> 00:56:34.744
And I didn't know.

00:56:34.744 --> 00:56:43.802
I was just like these men here, I didn't know, I didn't know what he was calling me to, I didn't have any frame of reference.

00:56:43.802 --> 00:56:46.385
I you know what did?

00:56:46.385 --> 00:56:55.474
I know, you know, all I knew was, you know, they told me well, you know, when you get out of high school you can go to college, and when you get out of college you can go to seminary.

00:56:55.474 --> 00:56:57.141
And when you go out of seminary you can go.

00:56:57.141 --> 00:57:05.329
You know, maybe they'll give you a church, and you know, and, and you know, I just had these, that's all I knew.

00:57:05.329 --> 00:57:23.744
I didn't know, I didn't know, I didn't know that he would give me all of these churches, hundreds and thousands of people.

00:57:23.744 --> 00:57:29.402
I didn't know, I didn't know, but I followed him.

00:57:31.496 --> 00:57:39.083
I wasn't always a real eager beaver follower, but where I wasn't following real good.

00:57:39.083 --> 00:57:58.518
He just drug me along and I'm so thankful that he didn't leave me on the shore.

00:57:58.518 --> 00:58:11.480
I'm so thankful that, as I look back on my whole life, my whole life has been preparing me to live out in the deep not not launch out in the deep, but just, you know, basically live in a submarine.

00:58:11.480 --> 00:58:15.186
I live in the deep.

00:58:15.186 --> 00:58:25.226
I'm so thankful that God did that and it.

00:58:25.226 --> 00:58:40.161
You know, if any of you know me, it's not by any stretch of the imagination that I deserved any of this, but it's what I was created for and Jesus was telling me.

00:58:40.161 --> 00:58:47.726
Me that the first words that Jesus ever spoke to me, or follow me.

00:58:47.726 --> 00:59:02.757
And I didn't try to argue with him and tell him that I've been laboring all night, but nevertheless, I didn't try to argue with him that way.

00:59:02.757 --> 00:59:08.280
I just started to set my sail in that direction.

00:59:10.181 --> 00:59:12.963
Praise God, hallelujah.

00:59:12.963 --> 00:59:16.286
Was it easy for Peter?

00:59:16.286 --> 00:59:16.865
No.

00:59:16.865 --> 00:59:23.989
Was it easy for John, james, andrew, nathaniel, matthew?

00:59:23.989 --> 00:59:27.172
Was it easy for them?

00:59:27.172 --> 01:00:23.019
It was not easy, but they came, they followed and they saw, and then they went on and told the world we cannot help but witness to those things that we have both seen and heard how this Jesus, full of the Holy Ghost and power, anointed by God, with the Holy Ghost, is both king, priest, prophet, apostle, pastor, teacher, anointed of God, chosen of God, sent of God, the revealer of God.

01:00:23.019 --> 01:00:30.262
No flesh has seen God at any time, but the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father.

01:00:30.262 --> 01:00:36.701
He has been sent to reveal Him and he's telling you come and see.

01:00:36.701 --> 01:00:38.646
Come and see.

01:00:38.646 --> 01:00:39.619
What do you seek?

01:00:39.619 --> 01:00:41.960
What do you seek?

01:00:41.960 --> 01:00:45.996
Hallelujah.

01:00:45.996 --> 01:00:48.512
What do you seek?

01:00:48.512 --> 01:00:48.735
Hallelujah.

01:00:48.735 --> 01:00:52.849
What do you seek?

01:00:52.849 --> 01:00:55.927
Come and see.

01:00:55.927 --> 01:00:57.094
No-transcript.
