00:00:01.120 --> 00:00:16.972
We are continuing to talk about Luke 4 and 18 as being one of the first words that Jesus spoke after he came out of the wilderness being tempted by the devil.

00:00:16.972 --> 00:00:58.944
He was in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights after his baptism, and looking at several places where the first words that Jesus spoke in his ministry are recorded, we end up in a synagogue in Nazareth where Jesus grew up and says as was his custom, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath and was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah and he turned to the section in the scroll where it was written that the spirit of the Lord God is upon me because he has anointed me.

00:00:58.944 --> 00:01:10.765
You know, last couple times we have been together, we have really just been talking about that one verse that the Spirit was upon Him.

00:01:10.765 --> 00:01:14.953
And because it is upon Him, it is now upon us.

00:01:14.953 --> 00:01:24.734
And if it is upon us because it was on Him, then it is upon us for the same reasons.

00:01:24.734 --> 00:01:31.200
Amen was on him.

00:01:31.200 --> 00:01:32.201
Then it is upon us for the same reasons, amen.

00:01:32.201 --> 00:01:41.822
But the main thing to start our message today is to recall what we said the last time is that you are anointed, that the spirit of the Lord is upon you.

00:01:41.822 --> 00:01:56.314
The Spirit of the Lord has filled you and taken up residence in you, because you have already been anointed and set apart for holy work.

00:01:57.402 --> 00:02:12.853
Now, the anointing, as we mentioned and the word anointed is a very poorly used word in the church right now, but what it really means is to set aside for a God-ordained purpose.

00:02:12.853 --> 00:02:21.709
For example, david was anointed, king Saul was anointed, king Aaron was anointed as the high priest.

00:02:21.709 --> 00:02:34.104
You follow the logic there, amen, when Jesus says that the Spirit was on him because he was anointed.

00:02:34.104 --> 00:02:38.390
He wasn't anointed because the Spirit was on him.

00:02:38.390 --> 00:02:48.627
The Spirit came upon him and filled him because he was already anointed, he was already set apart.

00:02:48.627 --> 00:02:58.487
This had been done, you know, trillions of years ago, before there was even such a thing as time.

00:02:58.487 --> 00:02:59.670
Amen.

00:02:59.670 --> 00:03:07.373
And if he was, if he was set apart and anointed to receive the Holy Ghost, then we are as well.

00:03:07.373 --> 00:03:12.099
And the key question is when did that happen?

00:03:12.099 --> 00:03:19.171
And it happened at the same time that Jesus was anointed, because we were in him at that time.

00:03:19.171 --> 00:03:20.634
Praise God.

00:03:20.634 --> 00:03:23.167
Are we getting any of this?

00:03:23.167 --> 00:03:29.532
So let's talk about what we are anointed to do.

00:03:29.532 --> 00:03:35.293
What are we set apart to do, according to this scripture in Luke 4 and 18 and 19?

00:03:35.293 --> 00:03:35.293
.

00:03:35.293 --> 00:03:37.284
And why is this important?

00:03:37.284 --> 00:03:39.009
Why is this important?

00:03:39.009 --> 00:03:40.599
Because first words are important.

00:03:40.599 --> 00:03:43.650
First words establish something.

00:03:43.650 --> 00:03:46.066
First words give it a dimension.

00:03:46.066 --> 00:03:48.543
First words give it a structure, if you will.

00:03:48.543 --> 00:03:53.331
First words will give it a shape.

00:03:53.331 --> 00:03:54.813
They'll put some limits on it.

00:03:54.813 --> 00:03:56.580
Amen.

00:03:56.961 --> 00:04:09.087
If you read this scripture, you'll find out what we are anointed for, but it leaves out a lot of things that people assume that we are anointed for.

00:04:09.087 --> 00:04:10.645
Oh, he's anointed for this.

00:04:10.645 --> 00:04:11.710
He's anointed for this.

00:04:11.710 --> 00:04:12.844
He's anointed for this.

00:04:12.844 --> 00:04:14.086
Oh, he's so anointed.

00:04:14.086 --> 00:04:21.610
You know well, he may be anointed, but it's not in this list.

00:04:21.610 --> 00:04:34.548
So he may be talented, he may be picked out of a crowd to sing, or he may be picked out of a crowd to do something else, you know, but is it in this list?

00:04:34.548 --> 00:04:53.685
See, this list was written by the prophet Isaiah, spoken to him by the Holy Ghost and then confirmed by Jesus out of his own mouth that this is what he was anointed to do.

00:04:53.685 --> 00:04:59.269
Okay, hallelujah.

00:04:59.870 --> 00:05:17.124
When Peter introduced the Holy Ghost to Cornelius the Centurion in Acts, chapter 10, he said this in verse 38, he said this word you know how?

00:05:17.124 --> 00:05:23.894
Jesus of Nazareth anointed with the Holy Ghost and power.

00:05:23.894 --> 00:05:37.459
Anointed with the Holy Ghost and power went around, went about doing good and healing all those that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.

00:05:37.459 --> 00:05:42.408
Another way of saying this verse right here Amen, that this Jesus was the anointed one.

00:05:42.408 --> 00:05:44.833
Amen.

00:05:44.833 --> 00:05:46.331
He wasn't one of many anointed as we are, he was the anointed one.

00:05:46.331 --> 00:05:53.752
And then, he wasn't one of many anointed as we are, he was the anointed one, praise God.

00:05:53.752 --> 00:06:03.288
So the first thing we see is that he was anointed or set apart for a holy purpose to preach the gospel to the poor.

00:06:03.288 --> 00:06:12.300
Now we mentioned this before when we came through here, that that this doesn't necessarily mean that we're only supposed to preach the gospel to poor people.

00:06:12.300 --> 00:06:14.622
I mean poor money.

00:06:14.622 --> 00:06:17.105
You know that are poor in money.

00:06:17.105 --> 00:06:27.182
That doesn't make sense because you don't the gospel to a human situation you preach.

00:06:27.622 --> 00:06:35.487
The gospel is a spiritual thing and has to be preached to spirits, the whole thing of you know God is a spirit.

00:06:35.487 --> 00:06:39.024
He understands that you're in a body, but that's not who he.

00:06:39.024 --> 00:06:40.569
You know he's really not.

00:06:40.569 --> 00:06:42.586
That body is going to be put away.

00:06:42.586 --> 00:06:45.427
I mean he's not unsympathetic with your sufferings.

00:06:45.427 --> 00:07:00.401
But by the same token, he knows that your spirit is eternal and so he's going to always be speaking to your spirit and he's always going to be more interested in your spiritual condition than in your physical condition.

00:07:00.401 --> 00:07:04.168
Now, that doesn't mean he won't heal your physical condition.

00:07:04.168 --> 00:07:10.189
It doesn't mean he's not sympathetic with it or empathetic with it or have compassion for it.

00:07:11.571 --> 00:07:16.867
But the end result of that, the end result of healing, is not so that you'll be healed.

00:07:16.867 --> 00:07:24.870
The end result of healing is so that you will give thanks to God and approach him in the Spirit.

00:07:24.870 --> 00:07:29.862
You will understand what healing does is.

00:07:29.862 --> 00:07:31.543
It tells you that God's visited you.

00:07:31.543 --> 00:07:41.125
Okay, that really is the main thing about healing is that God has come and visited you and healed you.

00:07:42.788 --> 00:07:47.194
Now you can dispense with the idea that God's mad at you.

00:07:47.194 --> 00:07:51.511
You can dispense with the idea that God isn't interested in you.

00:07:51.511 --> 00:07:55.651
You can dispense with the idea that God doesn't know everything about you.

00:07:55.651 --> 00:08:00.711
You can dispense with a whole lot of foolish ideas in one second.

00:08:00.711 --> 00:08:08.399
When God heals you, the people that don't get it are people who are so myopic.

00:08:08.399 --> 00:08:10.247
The only thing they can see is their bodies.

00:08:10.247 --> 00:08:27.112
But if you got the sense that God gave in, that if you get healed, things are going to change, because eternity has touched you and when God touches you and visits you in that way.

00:08:27.112 --> 00:08:35.193
There's no way that you can walk away from that situation and say God's not interested, god doesn't love me, god doesn't care, god you know.

00:08:35.193 --> 00:08:47.167
You can't say those things anymore, and what God hopes to do in that is to draw you toward himself so that you can have begin to have a spiritual encounter with Him.

00:08:47.167 --> 00:08:48.625
That's the intent of God.

00:08:48.625 --> 00:08:51.984
I'm just trying to explain to you how healing looks to God.

00:08:51.984 --> 00:08:59.570
Okay, I could say a bunch of stuff right here, but I'm not going to say that.

00:08:59.960 --> 00:09:10.991
Anyway, we don't have to preach, we're not going to preach the gospel to just poor people, because there are many people who are poor in spirit.

00:09:10.991 --> 00:09:14.870
You don't have to be poor physically to be poor in spirit.

00:09:14.870 --> 00:09:23.485
And then there are a lot of rich people who are obviously very poor in spirit Amen, but they have a lot of money.

00:09:23.485 --> 00:09:26.207
Amen, but they have a lot of money.

00:09:26.207 --> 00:09:26.429
Amen.

00:09:26.429 --> 00:09:31.089
There are also rich people or poor people in the, in the, in the physical, who are rich in the spirit.

00:09:31.089 --> 00:09:36.206
So it doesn't make sense that we only preach the gospel to poor people.

00:09:36.206 --> 00:09:38.735
That's not what Jesus is saying here.

00:09:38.735 --> 00:09:42.365
He's saying that we're going to preach this gospel to those that are.

00:09:42.365 --> 00:09:45.873
They're poor in the Spirit, they're destitute in the Spirit.

00:09:45.873 --> 00:09:51.048
They've been reduced to begging for reality or truth.

00:09:51.048 --> 00:09:55.721
Nobody's telling them the truth, amen.

00:09:57.423 --> 00:10:12.251
And so if you're a person in Jesus's day, and what you hear is you hear the rabbis rattling on about the various interpretations of the laws of Moses.

00:10:12.251 --> 00:10:18.302
You've got the Pharisees versus the Sadducees, we've got this group versus that group.

00:10:18.302 --> 00:10:20.292
We've got all this stuff going on.

00:10:20.292 --> 00:10:23.085
And then, in the backdrop of that, I mean that's just among the Jews.

00:10:23.085 --> 00:10:25.034
In the backdrop of that, I mean that's just among the jews.

00:10:25.034 --> 00:10:40.118
In the backdrop of that, you've got this whole pantheon of roman gods, of greek gods, of assyrian gods, of egyptian gods, of all of these, of babylonian gods, of all of these things that are around there.

00:10:40.118 --> 00:10:46.688
They're having influence on israel because everybody's been marching through there and bringing their gods, amen.

00:10:47.090 --> 00:11:01.653
So we've got all of this religion and what that does is that all of these idolatrous options make the spirits cry out and beg for reality.

00:11:01.653 --> 00:11:10.480
We don't know what's real and beg for reality.

00:11:10.480 --> 00:11:12.184
We don't know what's real, like the woman in John, chapter 4.

00:11:12.184 --> 00:11:13.307
Jesus goes to her, asks her for a drink.

00:11:13.307 --> 00:11:21.325
She says how is it that you, a Jewish man, ask a Samaritan woman for a drink, for the Jews have nothing to do with the Samaritans.

00:11:21.325 --> 00:11:27.961
Then he begins to deal with her and she finally comes down to this question.

00:11:27.961 --> 00:11:29.748
She says well, tell me this.

00:11:29.748 --> 00:11:38.187
We say that we have to worship on this mountain and the Jews say we have to worship in Jerusalem.

00:11:38.187 --> 00:11:40.451
What do you say?

00:11:40.451 --> 00:11:42.774
She says to Jesus?

00:11:42.774 --> 00:11:48.541
You say she says to Jesus.

00:11:48.541 --> 00:12:03.711
And Jesus says neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship, but the day is coming when all those who worship God will worship him in spirit and truth, for God is spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

00:12:03.711 --> 00:12:07.355
Only in God can we find truth.

00:12:09.061 --> 00:12:43.234
Everything else on this mountain in Samaria, which was the site of the temple that was erected as a counter-temple to David's temple If you remember this, that Rehoboam was the son of Solomon, grandson of David, and in Rehoboam's day the kingdom divided and the ten tribes of the north separated and congregated basically around Samaria, which was the biggest territory.

00:12:43.234 --> 00:12:48.282
Judah and Benjamin stayed in the south and Jerusalem was their capital.

00:12:48.282 --> 00:12:59.582
So where Shechem was where the woman was in John, chapter 4, was where they built the other temple.

00:12:59.582 --> 00:13:04.413
They built a temple as a substitute for the temple in Jerusalem.

00:13:04.413 --> 00:13:08.030
And then they told everybody you don't have to go to Jerusalem where you can come to this temple.

00:13:08.030 --> 00:13:14.668
Actually, they built one temple in there and they built one in the north so it would be easier for everybody to travel.

00:13:16.721 --> 00:13:17.586
You remember that story?

00:13:17.586 --> 00:13:25.068
So Jesus was saying it's not according to the way the Samaritans worship, nor is it according to the way the Jews worship.

00:13:25.068 --> 00:13:42.610
And he could have pointed a finger toward Babylon and said it's not according to the way Babylon worships and it's not according to the way Egypt worships, it's not the way Assyria worships, nor Rome, nor Athens, nor any of these people, because God is not one of those gods.

00:13:42.610 --> 00:13:48.244
God is spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth.

00:13:48.244 --> 00:13:48.845
God is not one of those gods.

00:13:48.845 --> 00:13:50.407
God is spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth.

00:13:50.407 --> 00:13:55.714
But you can't find the truth in any of these other places.

00:13:55.714 --> 00:13:57.255
How do I know this?

00:14:03.349 --> 00:14:07.692
Because John said in his Bible, in his gospel, in the first chapter, he said the law came by Moses.

00:14:07.692 --> 00:14:10.346
Well, everybody says yeah and amen.

00:14:10.346 --> 00:14:10.969
We know that.

00:14:10.969 --> 00:14:12.164
You know it's a great thing.

00:14:12.164 --> 00:14:16.067
We got the Ten Commandments up on the wall and you know we love this.

00:14:16.067 --> 00:14:21.187
But truth didn't come by that.

00:14:21.187 --> 00:14:32.633
A form of reality came, which was an observation of the law by the flesh.

00:14:32.633 --> 00:14:44.470
There was no faith, and if there's no faith, there's no release of grace, and if there's no grace, there's no power of God working in you.

00:14:44.470 --> 00:14:50.609
It was only God working around you and to you, and you had to obey it in the flesh.

00:14:52.682 --> 00:15:01.351
Listen to what John said the law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

00:15:01.351 --> 00:15:34.421
So when Jesus came and brought a real revelation of God, he brought truth with Him and he brought grace with Him, so that not only did we have a revealed word concerning who God was really, who he really was, but we find out that he wants to work in and through us, which is something the Jews never knew, the Samaritans never knew it, the Greeks didn't know it, the Romans didn't know it, the Babylonians didn't know, nobody knew this.

00:15:34.421 --> 00:15:37.043
This is the great mystery of all time.

00:15:37.043 --> 00:15:40.706
But Jesus came and brought and truth.

00:15:40.706 --> 00:15:53.884
So everybody that is without the gospel is without truth, and because they're without truth, they live in a world of delusion.

00:15:53.884 --> 00:16:02.721
Now this is as true in our world as it is in africa or asia or someplace like this.

00:16:02.721 --> 00:16:35.403
Just because we we are over here and we've got Western customs and we've been under the influence of of Judea Judeo-Christian ethics for centuries, now that doesn't exclude the people here from being Completely deluded and completely under strong powers of delusion and deception and confusion and every other evil work, because they are starving to death for the truth.

00:16:39.491 --> 00:16:43.682
Now I'm just going to interject this brief political campaign ad.

00:16:43.682 --> 00:17:00.783
This is one reason why the current political climate is allowed to exist because people no longer know the truth.

00:17:00.783 --> 00:17:18.153
No longer know the truth, and because they know the truth, they fall for all kinds of deception and even if they think that they're patriotic, they're deceived, and I'm not going to really say any more about it.

00:17:18.153 --> 00:17:24.519
But that's, you know, the hunger or the lack of truth.

00:17:24.519 --> 00:17:27.701
Immediately it acts like a vacuum.

00:17:27.701 --> 00:17:41.738
Where there is no truth, deception is going to come in and fill that void, just like if you poured out a cup of water and then you put the cup of water in a swimming pool.

00:17:41.738 --> 00:17:42.760
What's going to happen?

00:17:42.760 --> 00:17:43.991
Is it going to stay empty?

00:17:43.991 --> 00:17:47.719
No, the water will immediately fill that empty space.

00:17:47.719 --> 00:17:54.859
Amen, because it's empty and it's in a place that doesn't honor emptiness.

00:17:54.859 --> 00:17:57.827
Okay, so it's going to fill it up.

00:17:57.827 --> 00:18:01.095
And that's the way deception does when you don't have the truth.

00:18:01.095 --> 00:18:05.763
It fills it up and the people become greatly deceived.

00:18:06.569 --> 00:18:09.138
Jesus said we've got to preach the gospel to them.

00:18:09.138 --> 00:18:12.859
We've got to preach the gospel to those that are poor in spirit.

00:18:12.859 --> 00:18:22.202
They're reduced to begging for reality and they are yet unquickened to the truth or to God's reality.

00:18:22.202 --> 00:18:30.461
They haven't been quickened by the Holy Ghost so they don't know and they never will know if they don't have the gospel preached.

00:18:30.461 --> 00:18:42.976
Now some of those people that are in deception, if they hear the gospel, will prefer to stay in deception and some will not.

00:18:42.976 --> 00:18:45.032
Some will respond and some will not.

00:18:45.032 --> 00:18:46.536
Some will respond and some will not.

00:18:46.536 --> 00:18:57.364
Praise God, we would that all men be saved, but that the reality is that some are going to reject it, hallelujah.

00:18:58.010 --> 00:19:08.213
Now the second thing that Jesus says that he's anointed to do is that he has been sent to heal the brokenhearted.

00:19:08.213 --> 00:19:12.490
Now that doesn't mean that he's been sent to heal people that have had heart attacks.

00:19:12.490 --> 00:19:20.394
He doesn't mean that he's been sent to have to heal people who are, you know, damaged in their coronary system.

00:19:20.394 --> 00:19:31.238
He's been sent to heal broken spirits, the heart, when it's talked about in the New Testament that talks about the spirit.

00:19:31.238 --> 00:19:39.461
So you can say this just as easily as anything else he has been sent to heal the broken in spirit.

00:19:39.461 --> 00:19:51.243
So not only are they poor in spirit, but because they've been deceived and abused, they are bruised and they are broken in spirit.

00:19:51.243 --> 00:19:53.028
They are damaged.

00:19:53.028 --> 00:19:54.750
They're damaged people.

00:19:54.750 --> 00:19:57.596
Amen, listen, I am convinced of this.

00:19:57.596 --> 00:20:26.280
I've been doing this for a long time and I am convinced of this I've been doing this for a long time and I am convinced of this that when we look at people in front of us and we only look at their physical condition, we're missing it by a country mile, because what really the cause of their physical condition, nine times out of ten, is a spiritual condition.

00:20:26.280 --> 00:20:30.801
If their spirit is damaged, their bodies are going to be damaged.

00:20:30.801 --> 00:20:38.403
If their spirits are broken and they're bruised, their bodies are going to be broken and be abused.

00:20:38.403 --> 00:20:44.150
Let me give you an example.

00:20:44.451 --> 00:20:46.097
I was in a doctor's office one time.

00:20:46.097 --> 00:20:52.540
Sarah was with me, it was the first of the month.

00:20:52.540 --> 00:20:54.678
The place was packed out.

00:20:54.678 --> 00:21:00.029
This was an orthopedic kind of a place.

00:21:00.029 --> 00:21:03.538
They had a therapy place.

00:21:03.538 --> 00:21:05.803
They did a lot of pain management.

00:21:05.803 --> 00:21:06.625
An orthopedic kind of a place.

00:21:06.625 --> 00:21:16.505
They had a therapy place and they did a lot of pain management, which basically means they pass out a lot of narcotics, and the place was packed out on the first of the month.

00:21:18.009 --> 00:21:22.776
And I mean, if you've ever seen a more miserable set of people, I mean barely walking, I mean barely walking just.

00:21:22.776 --> 00:21:29.242
I mean just a very sad group of people.

00:21:29.242 --> 00:21:30.744
We wondered why we were even there.

00:21:30.744 --> 00:21:35.192
I mean, what are we doing here, you know?

00:21:35.192 --> 00:21:45.662
But be that as may, we were there and we overheard this one person talking to another person.

00:21:45.662 --> 00:22:05.813
You know, both of them had come in in wheelchairs, both of them were just looking for a little bit of chemical assistance to get through the month and they were talking to each other and he said, well, I had to come, I had to make my appointment on the 1st, close to the 1st, because I won't have enough gas money to get here the rest of the month.

00:22:05.813 --> 00:22:30.377
See, that person was not only broken down in their body, but they were broken down in their mind and they were broken down in their spirit, because you can just imagine that, come about the 15th of the month, they'd done run out of money for gas.

00:22:30.377 --> 00:22:36.115
They're going to be stuck in their house with probably minimal amount of food for the rest of the month.

00:22:37.890 --> 00:22:40.470
In pain in agony, amen.

00:22:40.470 --> 00:22:45.969
In pain in agony, amen.

00:22:45.969 --> 00:22:54.803
Because whoever has preached the gospel to them in the past preached it to their body and not to their spirit.

00:22:54.803 --> 00:23:04.021
They didn't come to heal the broken in spirit, they came to minister physical needs.

00:23:04.021 --> 00:23:19.961
Now I'm not saying that we shouldn't do that, but, trust me, I probably passed out more groceries and food than you'll ever think about and that doesn't save people, amen.

00:23:20.750 --> 00:23:25.583
I'm not even convinced it gets them in a physical condition where they can even listen.

00:23:25.583 --> 00:23:31.142
A lot of people tell you well, a hungry person can't receive the gospel.

00:23:31.142 --> 00:23:32.816
I don't know about that.

00:23:32.816 --> 00:23:41.314
That young man that she was talking about, that we picked out of the back of the crowd and came forward and got delivered.

00:23:41.314 --> 00:23:43.681
I don't think he probably eaten for a week.

00:23:43.681 --> 00:23:46.678
So I'm not too sure about all that.

00:23:46.678 --> 00:23:54.181
I think that's just an excuse not to preach to their spirits, because if you don't know how to do that, you won't know how to do that.

00:23:54.181 --> 00:24:02.900
If you're not healed in spirit, how can you preach healing the brokenhearted?

00:24:02.900 --> 00:24:05.525
Praise God, hallelujah.

00:24:07.333 --> 00:24:33.417
We live in a world where the vast majority of people out of 8 billion people, I'm going to estimate that 7.5 plus billion people live in a world where they are chronically abused by religion, one kind of a religion after another.

00:24:33.417 --> 00:24:35.154
It doesn't matter, I'm not going to name names.

00:24:35.154 --> 00:24:45.397
It doesn't matter whether they got a Christian description on them or whether they got a Buddhist description on them, or whether they got, you know, a Hindu, a Muslim.

00:24:45.397 --> 00:24:48.344
I don't care, it doesn't matter to me what the names are.

00:24:48.344 --> 00:24:49.171
It doesn't matter.

00:24:49.731 --> 00:24:51.194
Religion is religion.

00:24:51.194 --> 00:25:04.614
Religion, by definition, is works, righteousness, amen, of some sort or another, of some sort or another.

00:25:04.614 --> 00:25:14.983
I mean, if you're in certain parts of Asia, you have to go to the temple and do something.

00:25:14.983 --> 00:25:18.768
You have to offer up a sacrifice, you have to offer up things like that.

00:25:18.768 --> 00:25:19.648
They have a name for it.

00:25:19.648 --> 00:25:22.582
I can't remember what it was, but it essentially is a form of confession.

00:25:22.582 --> 00:25:22.839
It's a name for it.

00:25:22.839 --> 00:25:25.314
I can't remember what it was, but it essentially, you know, is a form of confession.

00:25:25.314 --> 00:25:27.137
It's a form of making things right.

00:25:27.137 --> 00:25:30.491
It's a form of communing with your, your ancestors.

00:25:30.491 --> 00:25:37.605
You know, hey, you know a lot of people do it, but it is an abuse of religion.

00:25:37.605 --> 00:25:41.699
They're not abusing religion, religion is abusing them.

00:25:41.699 --> 00:25:47.856
Religion is not healing their spirits, it's keeping their spirits in bondage.

00:25:47.856 --> 00:25:49.422
Amen.

00:25:50.672 --> 00:26:09.954
And if religion doesn't do it, then at the same time, or side by side or whatever, the spirit of Antichrist is just shattering spirits with all sorts of barbarity and violence and lawlessness and hatred.

00:26:09.954 --> 00:26:22.455
I mean, if you think you, if you think you live in a in a world system that's governed by Jezebel, wait until you get into a world system that's just, that's governed by Antichrist.

00:26:22.455 --> 00:26:26.743
You can't even believe what's going on.

00:26:26.743 --> 00:26:30.272
These are realities.

00:26:30.272 --> 00:26:31.576
This is what the world is like.

00:26:31.576 --> 00:27:05.365
The only people that are free of that are people who have been quickened by the Holy Ghost to the reality of what Jesus really is, who God really is, that the Holy Ghost wants to live inside of you and bring you into a place of quickening where your spirit is awakened to truth, and then you live in that truth, you depart from the darkness of deception and you move into truth.

00:27:05.365 --> 00:27:10.601
Praise God, hallelujah.

00:27:13.292 --> 00:27:37.227
So Jesus goes on, and the next things that he says has to do with bringing a people out of darkness and out of captivity and into this light of the truth that God wants us to be in.

00:27:37.227 --> 00:27:39.250
Amen.

00:27:39.250 --> 00:27:54.938
The first things that God said in Genesis 1, is light that is within me be John in one in almost the same verses.

00:27:54.938 --> 00:28:06.512
In John 1, john says in him Jesus was light, and that light was the life in him, was life, and that life was the life in him was life, and that life was the light of men.

00:28:06.512 --> 00:28:11.683
Amen, hallelujah.

00:28:11.683 --> 00:28:18.115
That life that Jesus is is real light.

00:28:18.115 --> 00:28:21.083
That's what God that was, that's what God was saying.

00:28:21.083 --> 00:28:24.059
He wasn't, because he didn't create the sun until two days later.

00:28:24.059 --> 00:28:27.578
It was the light that was in him.

00:28:27.578 --> 00:28:42.196
He wanted to be, but the devil in his disobedience brought in a darkness, and anything that's in his kingdom is in a kingdom of darkness as opposed to a kingdom of light.

00:28:42.196 --> 00:28:51.502
And one of the primary things that salvation does is it transfers you out of that darkness and into this marvelous light.

00:28:51.502 --> 00:28:55.097
Amen, praise God.

00:28:55.490 --> 00:29:00.390
So next thing Jesus says is to proclaim liberty to the captives.

00:29:00.390 --> 00:29:33.047
Now we're going to turn to Acts, the 16th chapter, and use this story, which we all know very well, as kind of a way to illustrate what Jesus is talking about here, because the stories that are conveyed in your Bible are carefully chosen by the Holy Ghost to convey messages and points that he makes in other places.

00:29:33.047 --> 00:29:45.192
So if Jesus says the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me, and then one of the things he's going to be anointed for is to proclaim liberty to the captives.

00:29:45.192 --> 00:30:01.046
Well, here's a story about a jail full of captives and God caused his number one apostle to become a captive in that prison.

00:30:01.046 --> 00:30:02.589
Now you want to know how this works to become a captive in that prison.

00:30:02.589 --> 00:30:04.713
Now you want to know how this works.

00:30:04.713 --> 00:30:06.839
You know well, it can't be God's will for that to happen.

00:30:06.839 --> 00:30:17.675
Oh, really, god gave Paul a vision of a man from Macedonia waving at him and inviting him and saying please come and help us.

00:30:17.675 --> 00:30:22.281
Please come and help us, please come and bring the truth.

00:30:23.506 --> 00:30:34.760
So Paul perceived that God was speaking to them, telling them to go to Macedonia and preach the gospel.

00:30:34.760 --> 00:30:53.193
So they went, they found some people, they started a small prayer group and all of a sudden then the devil raises his head right, sends this fortune-telling girl to chase Paul and Silas around all day in the city streets and saying listen to these men.

00:30:53.193 --> 00:30:55.499
These are servants of the most high God.

00:30:55.499 --> 00:30:57.429
They're going to tell you the way to be saved.

00:30:57.429 --> 00:31:00.134
Now you would think.

00:31:00.134 --> 00:31:09.516
Now if you were, if you were in in that situation, you might think, hey, you know, this is good, we're going to get some publicity, we're going to get more people at our meetings.

00:31:09.516 --> 00:31:10.878
You know, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

00:31:10.878 --> 00:31:16.429
But Paul was greatly vexed.

00:31:16.429 --> 00:31:29.436
He didn't like it that the devil was announcing it, put up with it for several days, turned around and said I adjure you in the name of Jesus Christ, come out of.

00:31:29.436 --> 00:31:48.316
Her Devil came out and all of a sudden the money, the cash cow that she was for her masters, was all of a sudden not that she couldn't tell the fortunes anymore, she't do any of that.

00:31:48.316 --> 00:31:57.426
And so they made a big brouhaha and paul and silas ended up getting thrown into in the prison, down in the very, very bottom of the of the prison cell.

00:31:59.489 --> 00:32:17.913
Okay, so in verse 25 it says at midnight paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and listen to this scripture, and the prisoners were listening.

00:32:17.913 --> 00:32:18.997
What does it say over here?

00:32:18.997 --> 00:32:27.243
Proclaim liberty to the captives.

00:32:27.243 --> 00:32:29.490
So Paul and Silas were proclaiming their liberty.

00:32:29.490 --> 00:32:30.954
They were just singing up a storm.

00:32:30.954 --> 00:32:39.845
Actually, they were singing up an earthquake and the captives were listening.

00:32:39.845 --> 00:32:48.611
Now I've got proof that every one of them was listening, and every one of them that listening, and every one of them.

00:32:48.611 --> 00:32:52.146
That message had pierced their darkness.

00:32:52.146 --> 00:32:55.413
I'm going to show you that in a minute.

00:32:55.413 --> 00:33:12.073
Suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken and immediately all the doors were opened and all of the chains were loosed.

00:33:12.073 --> 00:33:20.371
Glory to God, when liberty is proclaimed to the captives, it's going to have this effect.

00:33:20.371 --> 00:33:31.471
The captives may be in darkness, they may be in sin consciousness, and that's all they know.

00:33:31.471 --> 00:33:38.612
They may be in and live in a world where the only thing that is manifested is sin.

00:33:38.612 --> 00:33:53.039
Trust me, if you've ever, you know I'm going to venture out here and say you probably haven't been in a third world prison.

00:33:54.526 --> 00:34:01.358
Your concept of prisons are these immaculately sterile places.

00:34:01.358 --> 00:34:11.510
The halls are shiny, clean, all the electronic equipment works well, the prison doors open like this and shut like this.

00:34:11.510 --> 00:34:15.184
You know the prison, the prisoners are all immaculately dressed.

00:34:15.184 --> 00:34:30.518
You know and, and, and you know you go in and you talk to people in this nice little environment and then they usher you out and everything's real cool and they get fed decent food and all that kind of stuff you ought to.

00:34:30.518 --> 00:34:40.257
You can't even in your wildest imaginations imagine what it's like.

00:34:40.257 --> 00:34:46.972
You can't even imagine.

00:34:46.972 --> 00:34:51.902
And this place had to be 20 times worse than anything I've ever been in.

00:34:51.902 --> 00:34:54.391
I've been in some hell holes.

00:34:54.391 --> 00:34:56.684
This one, I mean, you can't even imagine.

00:34:57.507 --> 00:35:02.117
I used to say this when I'd tell stories about this episode.

00:35:02.117 --> 00:35:12.527
You know that the cockroaches were as big as rats and the rats were as big as rats and the rats were as big as Volkswagens.

00:35:12.527 --> 00:35:18.150
They were down in the very base and they were chained up, but the chains came off.

00:35:18.150 --> 00:35:19.550
What were they gone?

00:35:19.550 --> 00:35:24.614
Chains are broken, the prison doors are open, darkness is destroyed.

00:35:24.614 --> 00:35:26.635
So what happens?

00:35:26.635 --> 00:35:28.336
Keeper of the prison.

00:35:28.336 --> 00:35:31.239
Prison awaking from sleep.

00:35:31.239 --> 00:35:34.240
Every word in this section is full.

00:35:34.740 --> 00:35:56.155
He awoke from sleep and he saw that the prison doors were open and he supposed that the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he figured it's better that I do it than I wait for the, the prison keepers, to find me.

00:35:56.155 --> 00:36:01.085
They're going to torture me, they're going to do all kinds of things to me, so I'm going to take the easy way out.

00:36:01.085 --> 00:36:09.875
And Paul called with a loud voice do yourself no harm, listen.

00:36:09.875 --> 00:36:15.213
This is how I know that all of the prisoners took heed to what Paul was singing.

00:36:15.213 --> 00:36:19.943
We are all here Now.

00:36:19.943 --> 00:36:25.813
I'm going to tell you one thing that I know about people that are in prison.

00:36:25.813 --> 00:36:28.016
First thing is they're all innocent.

00:36:28.016 --> 00:36:32.347
Second thing is they all need money.

00:36:32.347 --> 00:36:39.826
The third thing is, if you ever open the gate and turn your back, they are gone.

00:36:44.327 --> 00:37:00.215
This happened in Panama, when one of the primary places of attack for the Americans on the night that the Americans attacked Panama was a place called the Comandancia, which was the prison.

00:37:00.215 --> 00:37:23.367
And what happened that night was exactly this the earthquake was in the form of the US military and if you don't think, I was an eyewitness.

00:37:23.367 --> 00:37:24.670
I know what I'm talking about.

00:37:24.670 --> 00:37:26.755
I've never seen anything like it in my life.

00:37:26.755 --> 00:37:29.106
Witness, I know what I'm talking about.

00:37:29.106 --> 00:37:30.007
I've never seen anything like it in my life.

00:37:30.007 --> 00:37:39.416
Just explosion after explosion after explosion, and I was probably five to six miles away and it just lit up the sky, just you know, and the concentration of it was right there at that place.

00:37:39.416 --> 00:37:47.980
Well, all of the guards took off and the next thing you know is all of the prison was empty.

00:37:49.726 --> 00:37:51.914
When the doors get open, prisoners take off.

00:37:51.914 --> 00:37:57.275
That's why they locked the doors, folks, I mean if they didn't duh.

00:37:57.275 --> 00:38:08.733
But in this case the doors were open, the chains were broken off and yet the prisoners were still there.

00:38:08.733 --> 00:38:17.976
That is an unbelievable miracle that all of the prisoners, not a one, got up and left.

00:38:17.976 --> 00:38:22.193
And so listen, what happens?

00:38:22.675 --> 00:38:30.472
When the gospel is preached to proclaim liberty, somebody's going to call for light.

00:38:30.472 --> 00:38:36.373
Somebody that is in darkness will want more light.

00:38:36.373 --> 00:38:38.090
Are you hearing me?

00:38:38.090 --> 00:38:49.117
I have never seen it fail that when you preach this gospel and the captives are set free, somebody is going to want more light, and then they're going to want more light.

00:38:49.117 --> 00:38:52.840
Free, somebody is going to want more light, and then they're going to want more light, and then they're going to want more light.

00:38:52.840 --> 00:38:56.472
There's going to be some people that says, okay, that's enough, enough light we don't want.

00:38:56.472 --> 00:38:59.829
But somebody is always going to search for more light.

00:39:01.150 --> 00:39:12.893
And he, the jailer, called for a light, ran in, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas brought them out and said Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

00:39:12.893 --> 00:39:15.253
He was listening to the singing also.

00:39:15.253 --> 00:39:18.451
We all know the Scripture.

00:39:18.451 --> 00:39:21.936
Believe on the Lord, jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.

00:39:21.936 --> 00:39:36.271
Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house, took them that same hour of the night, washed their stripes and he and his family were baptized.

00:39:36.271 --> 00:39:38.536
I'm sure all the rest of the prisoners were baptized.

00:39:38.536 --> 00:39:38.916
They stuck around.

00:39:38.916 --> 00:39:42.652
It wasn't until the next morning that Paul and Silas were left out.

00:39:42.652 --> 00:39:47.112
So I'm sure that Paul and Silas made the most of that night and baptized all of them.

00:39:47.112 --> 00:39:48.965
Glory to God.

00:39:48.985 --> 00:40:13.097
But the key thing to hear is when the liberty to proclaim liberty to the captives means to set them free from their chains, break open their prison doors, bring them into a light and quicken them to the reality of this gospel Amen.

00:40:13.097 --> 00:40:16.461
If that's not done, they're not saved.

00:40:16.461 --> 00:40:34.146
You know what the amazing thing is about this story Is that all the prisoners consented to go back into their cells and get chained up again, get locked in again and serve out their terms.

00:40:34.146 --> 00:40:46.469
But I know that Paul prophesied to somebody before they left that prison that you've got.

00:40:46.469 --> 00:41:05.068
You've got the call of God on your life to lead these men and I will do everything I can to get the word of God to you and I will instruct my people here in this city to come and visit you and come and minister to you, and this jailer is going to give you permission to hear the word of God.

00:41:05.068 --> 00:41:08.773
Are you hearing what God's saying?

00:41:08.773 --> 00:41:13.119
They may have been left in chains in their body, but they were no longer chained in their spirits.

00:41:13.119 --> 00:41:17.494
Amen, glory to God.

00:41:17.494 --> 00:41:22.855
Some people would have a hard time understanding and interpreting the scripture this way, but that's what happened.

00:41:22.855 --> 00:41:32.309
The Roman government didn't care a flip whether they got saved if they were still there.

00:41:32.309 --> 00:41:36.972
They were going back in the cell, they were going back in their chains and they were going to serve out their term.

00:41:36.972 --> 00:41:49.954
Amen, but God did not save them to just leave them there and still be in prison in their spirits.

00:41:49.954 --> 00:41:56.030
Glory to God, hallelujah, praise the Lord.

00:42:01.525 --> 00:42:07.958
Next thing that we are anointed to do is to bring recovery of sight to the blind.

00:42:07.958 --> 00:42:25.668
Talking about spiritual blindness, talking about a lack of discernment, talking about a lack of knowledge, a lack of wisdom, a lack of knowing things that God knows, that he wants us to know, but we just won't know.

00:42:25.668 --> 00:42:31.322
Amen, amen.

00:42:31.322 --> 00:42:40.896
Jesus was sent to open the eyes of the blind and cause us to recover our sight.

00:42:40.896 --> 00:42:53.467
I am fascinated by the word recovery, because if we didn't have sight before, we couldn't recover it.

00:42:53.467 --> 00:43:00.539
Hello, amen.

00:43:00.539 --> 00:43:04.074
I was blind, but now I see.

00:43:04.074 --> 00:43:10.132
But to recover your sight means that you could see and became blind.

00:43:10.132 --> 00:43:15.652
And now this gospel is being preached so that you can recover your sight.

00:43:15.652 --> 00:43:31.030
That means that all of us who have had this phenomenon of recovering our sight at one time before, when we were in Him, before time began, we had sight.

00:43:31.030 --> 00:43:34.449
When we were sent here, we lost our sight.

00:43:34.449 --> 00:43:44.519
And now, because the gospel has been preached to us, we can recover our sight and, furthermore, we have the anointing.

00:43:44.519 --> 00:43:49.940
We are anointed to preach to others that they may recover their sight.

00:43:49.940 --> 00:43:55.795
Hallelujah, glory to God.

00:43:55.795 --> 00:44:02.909
Glory to God.

00:44:06.349 --> 00:44:13.324
One thing that jumps out to me in this scripture that has to be talked about is the recovery of sight includes a recovery of the call of destiny on your life.

00:44:13.324 --> 00:44:24.271
When you are brought out by this gospel, there should be a call.

00:44:24.271 --> 00:44:46.900
Whoever is responsible for discipling you should be talking to you about a destiny that you have in God, a destiny that is older than time itself, that contains a blueprint for everything that God wants to do in your life while you're here on this planet and in the future when you return back to him.

00:44:46.900 --> 00:44:48.844
You have a destiny.

00:44:48.844 --> 00:44:58.717
In order to know what that destiny is, you have to have a recovery of your sight, because when you were in him, you could see it clearly.

00:44:58.717 --> 00:45:00.242
When you were in him.

00:45:00.242 --> 00:45:01.829
He talked to you about it.

00:45:01.829 --> 00:45:04.378
Clearly, it became part of you.

00:45:04.378 --> 00:45:10.077
But when you got here, because of the influence of sin, that destiny became clouded.

00:45:10.077 --> 00:45:21.503
But the gospel listen to me very carefully, the gospel is a recovery of sight and awareness of your destiny.

00:45:27.570 --> 00:45:46.097
Now, having said that, you then understand that many people who claim to be saved have no clue as to what their destiny is, because where they go to church, it's never talked about what destiny is that God has a plan.

00:45:46.097 --> 00:45:54.461
You know they always say that God has a plan, but you know nobody's there to prophesy it into existence, nobody's there to help you realize what it is.

00:45:54.461 --> 00:46:02.083
Amen, this thing is so real to God because this is why you've been created.

00:46:02.083 --> 00:46:08.650
You've been created to do this thing that God wanted you to do, hallelujah.

00:46:08.650 --> 00:46:13.135
He didn't just wake up one morning after you got saved and say wait a minute, here's.

00:46:13.135 --> 00:46:15.199
Here's some things I'd like for you to do today day.

00:46:15.199 --> 00:46:17.041
You know it's it.

00:46:17.041 --> 00:46:17.681
It is not.

00:46:17.802 --> 00:46:31.438
Our Christian walk is not like an eight-year-old kid that you know all of a sudden is is equipped to mow the grass, okay.

00:46:31.438 --> 00:46:32.864
So dad says I want you to go out and mow this part of the of the grass.

00:46:32.864 --> 00:46:33.547
I don't want you to mow this part.

00:46:33.547 --> 00:46:34.010
It's too dangerous.

00:46:34.010 --> 00:46:35.612
Next year you can mow that part.

00:46:35.612 --> 00:46:38.018
This year I just want you to mow this part.

00:46:38.018 --> 00:46:39.942
This is not the way our destiny is.

00:46:46.451 --> 00:46:57.365
God didn't just wake up and wait for us to get to eight years old and tell us to mow the front yard.

00:46:57.365 --> 00:46:57.847
He has had a plan.

00:46:57.847 --> 00:47:00.210
He has had this destiny in him since forever.

00:47:00.210 --> 00:47:01.630
See, you got to understand this about God.

00:47:01.630 --> 00:47:02.393
God is not in time.

00:47:02.393 --> 00:47:11.606
So any ideas and thoughts that God has he's always had, hello.

00:47:11.606 --> 00:47:14.291
He just doesn't.

00:47:14.291 --> 00:47:17.438
He just doesn't wake up one day and have new thoughts.

00:47:17.438 --> 00:47:20.264
That's not how God is.

00:47:20.264 --> 00:47:22.197
He's not a man.

00:47:22.197 --> 00:47:24.536
He doesn't think like we do.

00:47:24.536 --> 00:47:34.434
If he's had thoughts about you, he's always had thoughts about you and he always will have thoughts about you he can't do anything else other than that.

00:47:34.434 --> 00:47:36.920
Hallelujah, hallelujah.

00:47:36.920 --> 00:47:38.784
Do we get this?

00:47:39.771 --> 00:47:54.856
So if we are in need of recovering of sight to the blind, it is absolutely connected to this that we have to have a quickening as to what our call and destiny is.

00:47:54.856 --> 00:47:57.751
We have to.

00:47:57.751 --> 00:48:02.179
The Bible says this in the book of Romans, chapter 8.

00:48:02.179 --> 00:48:12.094
All things work together for the good of them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

00:48:12.094 --> 00:48:18.139
Amen For those that he called he also foreknew.

00:48:18.139 --> 00:48:20.601
And those that he foreknew he also predestnew.

00:48:20.601 --> 00:48:22.030
And those that he foreknew, he also predestinated.

00:48:22.030 --> 00:48:26.521
And those that he predestinated he also justified.

00:48:26.521 --> 00:48:32.023
And those that he also called he also justified.

00:48:32.023 --> 00:48:35.940
And those that he justified, he also glorified Amen.

00:48:35.940 --> 00:48:58.190
This tells you exactly where you are in the scheme of things, and if he's predestinated you and he's called you, then part of your salvation experience, in being justified and glorified, is to be quickened to that calling and that predestination.

00:48:58.190 --> 00:49:04.097
You've got to know what he was talking to you about back before you got here.

00:49:04.097 --> 00:49:11.119
It's a recovery of sight, it's not a healing of blindness.

00:49:11.119 --> 00:49:13.074
Can I get an?

00:49:13.074 --> 00:49:13.315
Amen?

00:49:13.315 --> 00:49:19.795
It's a recovery of sight, it is not a healing of blindness.

00:49:19.795 --> 00:49:24.170
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

00:49:24.409 --> 00:49:34.878
The last two things say to set at liberty them that are oppressed, oppressed by the devil and oppressed by his kingdoms, oppressed by this world system that we live in.

00:49:34.878 --> 00:49:40.115
There are all kinds of ways that we can be vexed and oppressed and tormented and harassed.

00:49:40.115 --> 00:49:58.507
Amen, but this gospel is given and we are given to preach it so that those that are in those kingdoms and tormented by those kingdoms can be set free.

00:49:58.507 --> 00:50:01.836
To set at liberty.

00:50:01.836 --> 00:50:06.097
Not only do we get to proclaim liberty, but we get to set at liberty.

00:50:06.097 --> 00:50:16.900
Now the jailer one of the first things he got to do as a new Christian, as a baptized believer.

00:50:16.900 --> 00:50:25.835
Now, remember, in those days there was no difference between water baptism and spirit baptism in the sense of time.

00:50:25.835 --> 00:50:29.860
As soon as they were water baptized, they got spirit baptized.

00:50:29.860 --> 00:50:42.358
So this man, a few hours after he is baptized in water and baptized in the spirit, one of the first things he gets to do, he has the honor to set at liberty.

00:50:42.760 --> 00:50:53.643
Paul and Silas, you don't think he told that story a thousand times?

00:50:53.643 --> 00:50:56.096
Are you kidding me?

00:50:56.096 --> 00:50:57.333
Do you think that they?

00:50:57.333 --> 00:51:10.492
Do you not know that every prisoner, every new prisoner that came in there, got to hear that story at least every day, and sometimes twice on Sunday, glory to God.

00:51:10.492 --> 00:51:18.599
And every guy that was in there for 10 years, he started to be able to tell the story better than the jailer did, because you know.

00:51:18.940 --> 00:51:21.474
You know what I got to do on the first day I was saved.

00:51:21.474 --> 00:51:23.724
You didn't get to do this, but I got to do this.

00:51:23.724 --> 00:51:26.532
Glory to God, you know what I got to do the first day I was saved.

00:51:26.532 --> 00:51:30.922
I got to give liberty to the Apostle Paul and to Apostle Silas.

00:51:30.922 --> 00:51:35.396
I got to escort them out of jail, glory to God.

00:51:35.396 --> 00:51:45.717
They were in here for false reasons and had been beaten and had been tormented, been vexed, harassed and generally misused by the devil.

00:51:45.717 --> 00:51:49.423
And I got to escort them out of jail, glory to God.

00:51:49.423 --> 00:52:02.543
Then he'd puff up his chest and, you know, his little kids would run around Woo, daddy, daddy, you know, glory to God, you would have done the same thing.

00:52:02.543 --> 00:52:14.762
It would have been the highlight of your experience as a Christian, because you have been anointed to set at liberty them that are oppressed.

00:52:14.762 --> 00:52:18.186
Well, paul was oppressed, silas was oppressed.

00:52:18.186 --> 00:52:22.724
They didn't belong in jail.

00:52:22.724 --> 00:52:27.010
All they did was cast the devil out of somebody.

00:52:27.010 --> 00:52:29.219
Glory to God, hallelujah, hallelujah.

00:52:32.210 --> 00:52:40.284
And finally, in verse 19, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord Acceptable.

00:52:40.284 --> 00:52:43.018
You know why this year is acceptable?

00:52:43.018 --> 00:52:51.360
Because the preaching of this gospel causes time to be redeemed.

00:52:51.360 --> 00:52:59.480
It's an acceptable year because it is an acceptable year of salvation.

00:52:59.480 --> 00:53:01.085
It is an acceptable year because it is acceptable year of salvation.

00:53:01.085 --> 00:53:09.824
It is acceptable year of deliverance, but it's acceptable because God has redeemed it through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, amen.

00:53:09.824 --> 00:53:35.931
Well, this is one of the most amazing things that we don't understand about salvation and about the application of the blood is that not only has it redeemed us from sin, but it has redeemed us out of time, because and the reason that happens is because death and sin have both been swallowed up in Christ's victory.

00:53:35.931 --> 00:53:41.454
Hallelujah, christ's victory, hallelujah.

00:53:41.554 --> 00:53:59.242
So when Jesus walked in to this synagogue, picked up the scroll, opened it up to the prophet Isaiah and read this the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.

00:53:59.242 --> 00:54:13.128
He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are oppressed and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

00:54:13.128 --> 00:54:47.411
Then he closed the book and he said to them today, is this scripture fulfilled in your presence Today?

00:54:47.411 --> 00:54:52.240
Is this scripture fulfilled in your presence Today?

00:54:52.240 --> 00:54:53.443
What day?

00:54:53.443 --> 00:54:57.315
Today, is this scripture Not about Jesus?

00:54:57.375 --> 00:54:57.797
About you?

00:54:57.797 --> 00:54:59.541
Is this scripture not about Jesus?

00:54:59.541 --> 00:54:59.742
About you?

00:54:59.742 --> 00:55:00.329
Is this scripture fulfilled?

00:55:00.329 --> 00:55:10.195
See, you could wake up every morning and read these two verses, lift your hands to heaven and say thank God.

00:55:10.195 --> 00:55:16.273
This today, this scripture, is fulfilled in my presence Today.

00:55:16.273 --> 00:55:19.530
Is this scripture fulfilled in my presence.

00:55:19.530 --> 00:55:22.579
This is who I am.

00:55:22.579 --> 00:55:25.610
This is why I was created.

00:55:25.610 --> 00:55:29.577
This is who my spirit is.

00:55:29.577 --> 00:55:39.538
I am these verses I am luke 4, 18 and 19, and it is fulfilled in my presence.

00:55:39.538 --> 00:55:40.458
Glory to God.

00:55:40.458 --> 00:55:45.135
And I am going to preach this gospel to the poor in spirit.

00:55:45.135 --> 00:55:50.701
I am going to heal those that are broken and bruised in spirit.

00:55:50.701 --> 00:55:57.980
I am going to recover, cause the recovery of sight to the blind, and to set at liberty them that are bruised.

00:55:57.980 --> 00:56:09.135
Glory to God, I'm going to proclaim liberty and I'm going to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, the year of His redemption.

00:56:09.135 --> 00:56:11.775
That's who you are.

00:56:11.775 --> 00:56:15.255
You are not something else.

00:56:15.255 --> 00:56:18.855
I'm sorry, you just aren't.

00:56:18.855 --> 00:56:25.831
Whatever this world calls you, you are not.

00:56:25.831 --> 00:56:34.864
You are what the word of God forms you and names you and calls you to be.

00:56:34.864 --> 00:56:35.911
That's who you really are.

00:56:35.911 --> 00:56:59.722
I'm going to say this If you fall for any of the other things that the world calls you, you will be in partial deception, and that's just the way it is, because the names that they have for you will put you into a form of bondage that God never intended for you.

00:56:59.722 --> 00:57:02.199
This is perfect liberty.

00:57:02.199 --> 00:57:03.773
You do this.

00:57:03.773 --> 00:57:06.340
You will always be free.

00:57:06.340 --> 00:57:23.405
You will be one of the freest people on the planet, because you will be in His perfect liberty, hallelujah.

00:57:23.405 --> 00:57:31.137
Jesus said these words.

00:57:31.137 --> 00:57:31.800
I'm going to close.

00:57:31.800 --> 00:57:56.605
Within a few days After he came out of the wilderness, he came all the way back to his hometown and his hometown synagogue to pick up this scroll and read these words Amen.

00:57:57.331 --> 00:58:01.262
This was not the only time that he said these words, I'm sure.

00:58:01.262 --> 00:58:18.356
I'm sure, wherever he went, eventually he would get to this text and tell people the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor and go on, because that's who I am.

00:58:18.356 --> 00:58:26.409
That's how Peter introduced him to Cornelius Amen, amen.

00:58:26.409 --> 00:58:27.914
Do you understand this?

00:58:27.914 --> 00:58:33.079
It is the calling card of God.

00:58:33.079 --> 00:58:38.320
It is the ultimate revelation of who God is.

00:58:38.320 --> 00:58:40.496
These two verses, listen to me very carefully.

00:58:40.496 --> 00:58:41.422
This is the ultimate revelation of who God is.

00:58:41.422 --> 00:58:42.329
These two verses, listen to me very carefully.

00:58:42.329 --> 00:58:49.621
This is the ultimate revelation the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me.

00:58:49.621 --> 00:58:52.625
That's the best Isaiah could say.

00:58:52.625 --> 00:59:01.001
But Jesus would go even a step further and say it is the Father in me that does the works.

00:59:01.001 --> 00:59:05.612
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because he has anointed me.

00:59:05.612 --> 00:59:13.530
And then he goes on to mention these six things that he has anointed to do.

00:59:13.530 --> 00:59:19.041
We need to find our ministry in these two verses.

00:59:19.041 --> 00:59:21.224
We need to find our life in these two verses.

00:59:21.224 --> 00:59:36.693
We need to find our identity in these two verses, because anything else is going to be a poor substitute for what God has called us from the very beginnings of time.

00:59:36.693 --> 00:59:44.699
Hallelujah, the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me.

00:59:45.480 --> 00:59:56.327
In Antioch, the Bible says that the believers were first called little anointed ones.

00:59:56.327 --> 01:00:00.976
That's what the word Christian means.

01:00:00.976 --> 01:00:01.965
Christian in the Greek means little anointed ones.

01:00:01.965 --> 01:00:01.947
That's what the word Christian means.

01:00:01.947 --> 01:00:03.838
Christian in the Greek Means little anointed ones.

01:00:03.838 --> 01:00:10.356
If you're his brother, you've got the same name.

01:00:10.356 --> 01:00:14.157
Praise God, hallelujah.

01:00:14.157 --> 01:00:17.813
Glory to Jesus, father.

01:00:17.813 --> 01:00:23.079
Let the words of our mouth and the meditations of our heart be acceptable in your sight, o Lord.

01:00:23.079 --> 01:00:26.193
You are our strength and our Redeemer.

01:00:26.193 --> 01:00:29.797
Praise God, hallelujah.
